Is MAME part of the retro pie image?
-
I am looking to put retro pie onto a raspberry pi 4 to make an arcade-like system using MAME, but I also want to add other emulations such as gba, Atari, nes, ect. So my question is, is MAME included in the retro pie image, or do I need to separately install it. I looked around and couldn't find an answer so if anyone can even point me in the right direction that would be helpful.

There are many emulators supported by RetroPie and EmulationStation. I'm fairly sure you'll have everything you require. You can "pick and choose" which to install.

@maximus159357 Why not look at the official docs? https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Arcade/

we have several versions of MAME available. some are included by default, others can be installed via the setup-script after installation with an internet connection.
i believe by default pi4 has lr-mame2003 only, but defaults change often so there's no record of them in the docs.

Next to mame2003, I can recommend its enhanced fork mame2003-plus and another arcade emulator called Final Burn Neo that is under ongoing development. But beware that every emulator needs its very own romset for the games to work, see Validating, Rebuilding, and Filtering Arcade ROMs.
