How are you powering the Pi? I found I got slowdown if I wasn't supplying quite enough power.

Thank you for the reply and wanting to help guys

I'm trying to obtain a Verbose , but I'm unable to

            • I ran the game with launch with verbose logging , nothing happened

            • I tried to recover the verbose by /dev/shm/runcommand.log and tried to see if the log was there and nothing was in there

Any other tips you should suggest for me to get the verbose log ?

As for my power supply ... I am using the bundle version from Cana kit

@escc1986 are you trying to use high resolution mode? cause that will cause some performance issues. I use a Pi3B and and a pi3B+ and have never had performance issues (other issues, emulator related) with ps1 games in standard resolution.

@escc1986 if you haven’t changed any options. It defaults to standard resolution. But you can tell by using hot key-x to open the retro arch menu and go to options.

                      @escc1986 said in Pi3 Question : Psx ( psx-rearmed) Games Lag:

there will always be something in /dev/shm/runcommand.log after a game is run. can you show us how you are checking? a screenshot or a terminal log, etc.

you're not shutting down or restarting after playing? it's temporary storage and will be empty on a fresh boot.

i can't think why it wouldn't be populated after you run a game on an official retropie image.

Not sure if this is still an issue in later versions but try disabling vibration in the Retroarch settings. This was known to cause lag for some people.

                                  Thank you for the suggestion

I just disabled Vibration , it didn't help the game I was playing but hope it works with the other games

Is it me or does Area 51 really Lag a lot on Pi 3 B ?

                                  Thank you @tashman

area 51 is an FMV game, yeah? those require constant and reliable storage acess. where is the ROM stored? if an SD card, what class is it?

you could experiment with the core option 'CD Access Method (Restart)' and set it to 'asynchronous' (note that you need to exit and reload the game for it to take affect)

I try Area 51(USA)(.cue and .bin version not CHD) in a Pi3 and it doesn't lag. I believe the problem is somewhere else.

I'm not sure what I did ... i just started disabling everything and the games seem to run much better

Here is an image of my settings

But unfortunately now I seem to get Crackling Audio/ Sound .... from the picture of my settings any idea why

From what Windg mentioned , I believe the best option for me is to try and replace every Game i have with Bin/Cue files ... i think I might try that
