Pi3 Question : Psx ( psx-rearmed) Games Lag
-
@escc1986 are you trying to use high resolution mode? cause that will cause some performance issues. I use a Pi3B and and a pi3B+ and have never had performance issues (other issues, emulator related) with ps1 games in standard resolution.
-
-
@escc1986 if you haven’t changed any options. It defaults to standard resolution. But you can tell by using hot key-x to open the retro arch menu and go to options.
-
which resolution option should i choose

@escc1986 said in Pi3 Question : Psx ( psx-rearmed) Games Lag:
I tried to recover the verbose by /dev/shm/runcommand.log and tried to see if the log was there and nothing was in there
there will always be something in /dev/shm/runcommand.log after a game is run. can you show us how you are checking? a screenshot or a terminal log, etc.
-
here is a picture ... nothing in the folder
i ran 4 psx games (All games are CHD files)
launched with log , and nothing
i use filezilla

@escc1986
you're not shutting down or restarting after playing? it's temporary storage and will be empty on a fresh boot.i can't think why it wouldn't be populated after you run a game on an official retropie image.
-
no haven't restarted it after playing games ...
yeah i downloaded the image from here this site

Not sure if this is still an issue in later versions but try disabling vibration in the Retroarch settings. This was known to cause lag for some people.

area 51 is an FMV game, yeah? those require constant and reliable storage acess. where is the ROM stored? if an SD card, what class is it?
you could experiment with the core option 'CD Access Method (Restart)' and set it to 'asynchronous' (note that you need to exit and reload the game for it to take affect)
-
I try Area 51(USA)(.cue and .bin version not CHD) in a Pi3 and it doesn't lag. I believe the problem is somewhere else.
-
I'm not sure what I did ... i just started disabling everything and the games seem to run much better
Here is an image of my settings
But unfortunately now I seem to get Crackling Audio/ Sound .... from the picture of my settings any idea why
From what Windg mentioned , I believe the best option for me is to try and replace every Game i have with Bin/Cue files ... i think I might try that
-
@escc1986 i don't see the image...
-
sorry i will re upload it

you've got a number of non-standard settings there. it's difficult to assist you if you keep changing settings :)
firstly, you should update lr-pcsx-rearmed as you're missing newer settings.
frankly, you've changed too much to effectively diagnose this problem. after an update, i would delete all the pcsx_ entries in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg and next time you run it it will use all the proper defaults)

i appreciate you honesty ... and yeah i didn't know what i was doing when changing setting on this core ...
the only thing i wanted to do was have all light gun games and run the modyfied version of ir-rearmed (from here https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/23533/lightgun-support-added-to-pcsx-rearmed?_=1596695570484 ) to run light gun games with a light gun
any tips or suggstings for that
well to be honest ... once i installed the fresh stock image (from this site .... the first thing i did was moydfy the ir pscx reamed to exactly like how that link was mentioned
i did these steps
" To use this you need to edit:
/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/libretrocores/lr-pcsx-rearmed.shChange the section to be like this:
function sources_lr-pcsx-rearmed() {
gitPullOrClone "$md_build" https://github.com/SindenLightgun/pcsx_rearmed.git
}Now go into RetroPie setup, manage packages, manage core packages, lr-pcsx-rearmed, do a remove first, then update from source.
When that has finished then you load lr-pcsx-rearmed as usual. Then on the menu under options you can change Pad 1 Type to "guncon". You need a mouse based lightgun like the Aimtrak or a Dolphin bar or my upcoming Sinden Lightgun. "

do you think or suggest after doing this
i should update and will i still have the guncon settings ?
