      @mrbwa1
I've always prided myself on how adaptable I was to most computers and software.
(except for printers, I don't care how many degrees and certifications I have.. I hate printers)
I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one having trouble and was humbled by these Arcade Roms!
That actually makes me feel quite a bit better.

Printers.... Yup, they are terrible. I have a fully rebuilt HP Laserjet 5N that I keep rebuilding because it works. I managed to underclock some old RAM, so I think it's like 128MB in there now (still can't render a PDF from Google Chrome in anything under 20 minutes, so I have to save and prit through a PDF reader). My original Raspberry Pi B+ is actually currently pressed into service to share the Laserjet on the network.... So the yellowed up old beast can directly Air Print from an iOS device without a fuss. Wish I could say the same about my Samsung Color Laser printer that can't even print the same colo from 2 PCs using the same OS.

It took me quite a long time to transition from Mame32 and it's Windows GUI. I ended up turning to religion and found this in the pages of the holy forum. I certainly felt the vengeance.....

        MAME 25:17
The route to frustration and madness is beset on all sides by the practices of the impatient and the resolve of lazy men. Blessed is he, who in the name of thoroughness and good instinct, follows directions, for he will truly find his answers and for those who do not I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and fuuuuuuurious anger those who would attempt to corrupt and destroy my installation with false romsets. And you will know my name is MAME when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Don't feel too bad. I started this journey just before Christmas. There is a lot to take in, I'm learning new things every day, and I still don't know much.

The one piece of advice I will offer you is this - Don't skim the wiki articles. Read that ish. Then, re-read that ish. Then, re-re-read it and look for other write ups about it. By doing so you will learn enough to be able to ask the right questions and that, my friend, is the key.

Nevermind the questions, I just realized I've been reading versions #s wrong.
I literally was getting .37 and .138 confused, the later being more up to date from what I can tell?

@Jiryn 0.138 more up to date, but not going to work on any mame emulators in retropie.

Yea, I realized I was totally overlooking the fact one had a 1 and one didn't...
Now I feel even more stupid.

Lr-2010 seems to be able to run .139, but someone above said it's not as good?

Ugh, feels like every time I make a step forward.. I get pushed back a couple feet...
So, I finally found sets which should work..... but they are in .7Z format.

I know there are conversion tools, but will there be a loss of data between the conversion, and are there mass conversion tools, which will change an entire directly instead of one at a time...

Other than that, looks like I am ALMOST there.

@Jiryn http://www.bitser.org/7z-file-converter-how-to.shtm or just get a .zip set.

As I said, one step forward.. two steps back!!!
I grabbed that, doesn't seem to be able to do conversions in mass (or I am missing something) worried about loss and corruption of data.

                            I'll get this..
Thank you for all your links, help and advice..
And yes I know I am thanking you all too much, but it means a lot to me.

All the files contained are .zr though.

@Jiryn have you actually read this? https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/MAME None of those sets will run on the emulators on the Pi. Do yourself a huge favour and get the 0.78 ROM set. This works with lr-mame2003 on RetroPie. It's literally the most fool-proof way to get MAME running. 0.78 is a non-merged set. The ROMs are (pretty much) stand-alone. I have installed 100 games that way. And they run flawlessly on lr-mame2003 because they are from the "0.78 MAME ROM REFERENCE SET".

                                    Yes, I've read it!
You asked what I had found though and was being bluntly honest.
I know I need the .78 to run with Lf-Mame2003... but I had also found complete sets for other systems, which I didn't want to name individually.
The problem was, they were 7Z files, which I am now batch converting into zip files.

I'm still having trouble tracking the .78, since most seem to be .1## something, nor will I ask from them.

As frustrated as I am/was I am also enjoying this as a learning experience!

@Jiryn I understand it can be frustrating. I am actually only trying to help. There is ZERO point in you downloading a huge ROM set that will not work on the Pi. You may have read it but did you actually understand what it was telling you?

I downloaded one of the other consoles romset that I was interested in, and found the 7Z problem.

As I said above, I at first didn't notice the .1 in the #s, I was trying my best to only match the last two digits like a moron and have since fixed the problem/way of thinking!

I am laughing at this, this entire thing has been a frustrating learning experience. (Yea, I know I act like a total moron at times.)

I understand what you're saying, and I am looking for a compatible .ZIP Romset in the right form series for MAME.
That was the main discussion for the topic.

The 7Z was related to a different console, and I was able to batch convert them from 7Z to zip, and they are working fine.

I thank you for your assistance here, I wasn't trying to sound belligerent.

I'm sorry for the confusion, I was working on two different topics at the same time in the same post.
