Yea, I realized I was totally overlooking the fact one had a 1 and one didn't...
Now I feel even more stupid.Lr-2010 seems to be able to run .139, but someone above said it's not as good?

@dankcushions
Thanks -
Ugh, feels like every time I make a step forward.. I get pushed back a couple feet...
So, I finally found sets which should work..... but they are in .7Z format.I know there are conversion tools, but will there be a loss of data between the conversion, and are there mass conversion tools, which will change an entire directly instead of one at a time...
Other than that, looks like I am ALMOST there.
-
@Jiryn http://www.bitser.org/7z-file-converter-how-to.shtm or just get a .zip set.
-
@columboscoat
As I said, one step forward.. two steps back!!!
I grabbed that, doesn't seem to be able to do conversions in mass (or I am missing something) worried about loss and corruption of data.I'll get this..
Thank you for all your links, help and advice..
And yes I know I am thanking you all too much, but it means a lot to me. -
@Jiryn What ROM set version did you get?
-
@columboscoat
Found Set of .138 through .171 along with other consoles
All the files contained are .zr though.Looking for .ZIP alternatives
-
@Jiryn have you actually read this? https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/MAME None of those sets will run on the emulators on the Pi. Do yourself a huge favour and get the 0.78 ROM set. This works with lr-mame2003 on RetroPie. It's literally the most fool-proof way to get MAME running. 0.78 is a non-merged set. The ROMs are (pretty much) stand-alone. I have installed 100 games that way. And they run flawlessly on lr-mame2003 because they are from the "0.78 MAME ROM REFERENCE SET".
-
@columboscoat
Yes, I've read it!
You asked what I had found though and was being bluntly honest.
I know I need the .78 to run with Lf-Mame2003... but I had also found complete sets for other systems, which I didn't want to name individually.
The problem was, they were 7Z files, which I am now batch converting into zip files.I'm still having trouble tracking the .78, since most seem to be .1## something, nor will I ask from them.
As frustrated as I am/was I am also enjoying this as a learning experience!
-
@Jiryn I understand it can be frustrating. I am actually only trying to help. There is ZERO point in you downloading a huge ROM set that will not work on the Pi. You may have read it but did you actually understand what it was telling you?
-
@columboscoat
I downloaded one of the other consoles romset that I was interested in, and found the 7Z problem.As I said above, I at first didn't notice the .1 in the #s, I was trying my best to only match the last two digits like a moron and have since fixed the problem/way of thinking!
I am laughing at this, this entire thing has been a frustrating learning experience. (Yea, I know I act like a total moron at times.)
-
@Jiryn I'm sorry but I'm out. You are asking for guidance and help and ignoring it when it is given. I'll say nothing personal, except I will no longer be responding to you. I genuinely hope you figure it out. Good luck.

@columboscoat
I understand what you're saying, and I am looking for a compatible .ZIP Romset in the right form series for MAME.
That was the main discussion for the topic.The 7Z was related to a different console, and I was able to batch convert them from 7Z to zip, and they are working fine.
I thank you for your assistance here, I wasn't trying to sound belligerent.
I'm sorry for the confusion, I was working on two different topics at the same time in the same post.
-
I think I have quite a better handle on this..
Thank you to everyone, it was a trial and error learning experience and you all helped out.I apologize for today's questions, they were quick bouts of confusion which was quickly cleared up through research in experimentation, but I realize my replies only made it sound more confusing than it actually was.
ANyways, I'm closing the topic now.
Thank you to @columboscoat @dankcushions @batesman @markwkidd @mrbwa1 @rbaker@administrators @Global-Moderators Would an admin or moderator mind purging this topic, it seems quite a bit superfluous at this point.

It's also sometimes referred to as the "MAME 2003 Reference Set". Download it, then drop the ROMs into
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/
and you'll be good to go. -
@mediamogul
Yep, starting to notice that as well.
When I said I found Rom Sets "Other Systems" I meant the other systems beyond MAME supported by RetroPi.So I wanted to see if the sets would work, and found the files to be all 7Z. Though I was able to convert the 7Z files and they work just fine now.
-
@mediamogul @columboscoat
There we go.
Got a full working MAME .78 rom set, and a few other console rom sets setup and running!Seriously, thank you!
Your hints, tips and guidance was fully appreciated. -
Every time someone gets MAME working, they've joined a very unique brotherhood.

@batesman Every time someone posts a question about MAME I want to throw myself in front of a bus. Or them. Depends on my mood.

@columboscoat
You're still quite knowledgeable and helpful though.Sorry for the trouble man.
