gamelists not working after edits
-
Hey all,
I've run into an unexpected problem that I need some help with. I had gotten my systems nearly completely configured with video previews using gamelists and snaps distributed by ETA Prime on youtube. There are a few outliers in each system where my rom names didn't match the gamelist.xml so I edited the gamelist.xml files for PC engine and SNES on my mac in a xml editor to correct the issue, then I put them back on the Pi with fetch.
When I rebooted emulation station both systems appeared as if they had never been scraped. ES seems to no longer recognize the gamelist.xml.
So I tried opening those files in the Pixel OS on my Pi and resaving them. That didn't work. So I tired replacing the gamelist.xml with the original unedited file that I got from ETA Prime.
I'm kind of at a loss for what to try next... any ideas what I did wrong?

It sounds like a permissions issue.
If in the console/ssh you do the following
cd ~/.emulationstation/gamelists/snes
ls -l
copy and paste the output.
For reference mine looks like this:
-rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 11062 Jul 28 21:59 gamelist.xml

Without looking at your files? It would be like magic.

well I feel like a dolt,
seems that it was that at some point I did a find and replace on the .zip files to match my .7z roms, then I guess when I went back in to edit I did a find and replace on the .bin files and changed them also to .7z.... I guess that was confusing it. Thanks for the help simonster, thats a nice command I didn't know. I've got it working again.
