[solved] GLideN64 crashing back to EmulationStation for every n64 rom
-
Specs: Retropie v4.7.1 on Raspberry Pi 4
The issue: Every N64 game I try to load with GLideN64 fades to a black screen and sends me back to the N64 game selection at EmulationStation. Other emulators work fine but none of the gliden64 emulators work for any games. I did a minor overclock but the issue was present before I OCed.
The ROMs are not zipped. They are all .z64 files and work when loaded with other emulators, such as mupen64plus and gles2rice.
I saw one other post with a similar issue but it didn't seem 100% related to mine. I'm still sort of new to Retropie as a whole so I want to be certain of what I'm doing before I go messing with settings or configs.
Below are the details of /dev/shm/runcommand.log which I'm not sure how to read:
Parameters: Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/mupen64plus/bin/mupen64plus.sh mupen64plus-video-GLideN64 "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64/Rampage 2 - Universal Tour (USA).z64" 1920x1080 0 --set Video-GLideN64[UseNativeResolutionFactor]\=1 * failed to add service - already in use? terminate called without an active exception /opt/retropie/emulators/mupen64plus/bin/mupen64plus.sh: line 447: 1515 Aborted SDL_AUDIODRIVER=${SDL_AUDIODRIVER} SDL_VIDEO_RPI_SCALE_MODE=${SDL_VIDEO_RPI_SCALE_MODE} "$rootdir/emulators/mupen64plus/bin/mupen64plus" --noosd $PARAMS ${WINDOW_MODE} --rsp ${RSP_PLUGIN}.so --gfx ${VIDEO_PLUGIN}.so --audio ${AUDIO_PLUGIN}.so --configdir "$configdir/n64" --datadir "$configdir/n64" "$ROM"
Any help is appreciated.

- failed to add service - already in use?
terminate called without an active exception
This error indicates the emulator is trying to use the Broadcom GL drivers, which are not available on the Pi4. How did you install the RetroPie image - is this a fresh install or an upgrade ?
- failed to add service - already in use?
-
Fresh install using Raspberry Pi Imager.

@illmaticxking Try reinstalling
mupen64plus
from source and see if the error persists - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/#updatinginstalling-individual-packages. -

One other question that I've also searched but am not sure how to resolve. In non-Libretro cores, my hotkeys on my controller and keyboard do not work for opening the quick menu to adjust video, configs, etc.
Is there an easy method to setting this up for non-Libretro cores?
Edit: I may have found my answer. I know the quick menu doesn't exist for non-Libretro cores so I should just refer to the hotkeys listed under each emulator. For example, with GLideN64, I would refer to this to see what hotkeys are accessible, such as loading a save state.

That's because the Hotkey Enable button/functionality is specific to RetroArch/libretro. For each standalone emulator, you'll have to check what options for input are available and how/if they can be adapted to a 'hotkey' schema.
