N64 not working
-
So i just got the the raspberry pi a few days ago and have installed and set up retro pie everything seems to be working fine except every time I launch the n64 emulator its like the keyboard isn't connected I can't start on any of the games I have looked in some settings but couldn't find anything I may have touched something when I first started it up but other then that I'm not sure so any help will be appreciated.
also it is a pi 3 balso if anyone is interested I am building a portable pie so if you want me to put that up let me know thanks!

Have you tried unzipping the rom you downloaded? I had the same problem as you and rather than dumping the zipped rom like you do with other games, I extracted it and put the raw file on the Pi, worked a treat.
-
thanks il try that
-
Unzipped but still not working all the roms are n64 roms
-
If I'm understanding you right, you want to play the games with your keyboard? If so, check your
/opt/retropie/configs/n64/InputAutoCfg.ini
file and make sure thatplugged = True
is set under[Keyboard]
. If the various keys are not as you want them, you can reassign them to your preference by using this chart. -
@mediamogul
So i found the opt/retropie/configs/n64 but cant see /InputAutoCfg.ini -
Unless something has recently changed, it should be there. The wiki still lists it as a viable configuration method. You might try removing 'Mupen64plus' and adding it back using the most recent Retropie setup script.
-
Great now the games won't start at all it just goes in then says powering in HDMI with preferred settings
-
What exactly did you change or do right before that? It sounds like you may have altered the video settings in some way that your television can't handle.
-
@mediamogul not to sure do u know the preset video settings so i can set it back
by the way thanks for helping
-
Not a problem. First let's make sure we're on the same page. When you launch a game, does the screen go black and give some sort of HDMI message?
-
@mediamogul it says
powering on hdmi with explicit settings (dmt mode 4)
and powering in HDMI with preferred settings -
When launching a N64 game, press a keyboard key When the 'Run Command' menu appears and then try setting the default video mode to 1920x1080 @ 60Hz 16x9.
-
Okaay that's weird i tried pressing it and it didn't come up so i tried again and spammed it a bit then the pi crashed
-
all good in the menu now
-
now when i launch it does the same thing except the screen goes fuzzy
by the way i am running it on 800x 480x touch screen -
Still getting an HDMI error? Can you see the games running?

what do you mean can i see the games running? they dont launch if thats what you mean i did set the video to 1920x1080 like you said
-
it also might be the emulator which is the preset emulator?
-
I really don't know what could have gone wrong in fixing your keyboard problem that would yielded display issues. Did this start after you uninstalled and reinstalled Mupen64Plus?
