I know it says that fba supports hiscore.dat on certain roms, but where does hiscore.dat get placed and is there a specific version of the .Dat file that I need to be using? Thanks for all the assistance I like this post. Fba is great so far I just wish there was killer instinct and primal rage support. I know I'm one of the few that like primal rage, but we all have our guilty pleasures.

c'mon... all in the link i posted: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-fbalpha#high-scores

Holy cow... Yeah I'm an idiot. I just got really excited about hiscores. Sorry about that. Thanks again.

I was looking at the https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-fbalpha wiki section, but noticed that under the Dipswitches section, the image that's supposed to show the menu doesn't work. It's an image that states URL périmée.

updated. anyone can update the wiki btw :)
-
@CourierSS looks like someone used the wrong github hack for posting images.
-
I kind of assumed that you had the original image based on authors in the revision history (can't see revision history of old page) so I wasn't sure if I should make any adjustments.
I was kind of curious of what it might have originally looked like or if anyone else also took a similar screenshot, so I did Google image search of lr fba next dipswitches and it's just the same URL périmée as the first result haha
-
@CourierSS I've never used them myself but perhaps something like this: https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Use-Neogeo-Unibios-(EN)
-
i think i must have hotlinked to recalbox's screenshot before, which wasn't very clever :) it doesn't really need a screenshot and it would change every time retroarch do something to the menu, so no need for it really. the instructions are simple enough.

nah it's all within the standard RGUI menu system. that stuff in those screenshots would be accessible via https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-fbalpha#neo-geo-unibios
@CourierSS just load it up and have a look :)

@dankcushions I think this is a great initiative! Good call! 😆

i updated the compatibility list with all the new 0.2.97.39 changes. this took ages, but it's done now :) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GaqIIoiWbzKHwZ52S2xCSDQXILo81Ls1mHK6czKGAtM/edit#gid=1671511927
also, maintainer @barbudreadmon is currently working through some control fixes so check it out! https://github.com/libretro/fbalpha/issues/102
-
@dankcushions Nice!
Would be god to have a Working dat file based on the compatibility list.?
Edit: opps sorry was a lot of games untested so that would be a bad idea.

:) yeah, also unlike mame the FBA dat files don't include a bunch of games already that are known to not work (preliminary emulation etc), so pretty much everything should be working beyond what is logged here: https://github.com/libretro/fbalpha/issues

@barbudreadmon Do you have any news on the implementation of NeoGeo CD at this time?
I have been looking at the official forums for Fba over at neosource.1emulation.com and your thread "Need some help with my libretro port" where "dink" helps out from time to time.

ddonpachi crash fixed
apprently this was broken in latest version.
https://github.com/libretro/fbalpha/commit/9804e86612fddc246383ebe0b3f93a90723efc2dIt was donpachi, ddonpachi is the sequel. speedspn got fixed too.
@Ryon Yes, dink is a big help since he knows the codebase very well, and it allows upstream to fix a few bugs on their side too. But i can't really go and ask them to write a neogeo cd libretro implementation for me. I started to analyze how they do this on standalone, but i don't have that much time to implement it right now (that's a lot of work for samurai showdown rpg, which is pretty much the only real exclusivity on neogeo cd), and i prefer using my free time to fix current issues.

@barbudreadmon thanks, updated!
please feel free to add any updates here if you want also. i'll try and do that but some i may miss!

some belated updates!

0.2.97.40 released!
100s of new games/clones added, and lots of fixes/improvements! see https://www.fbalpha.com/view/236/
(i've also updated the wiki and compatibility lists to suit) -
one of the things that is apparently fixed is the ugly sound emulation in sega 16 games (goldenaxe, altered beast, etc). very cool if true! please can someone check, and update the compatibility list if fixed :)
