@RetroResolution said in Yellow/Gold warning square in the top right hand corner:

@RetroResolution really must get on with writing up the guide on enabling the retroarch real-time audio-video recording feature - been an enjoyable chat though, thanks.

I would hope to know more of how the governor works at some point. I have some new information to ponder. I had no idea it tries to maintain the fastest possible speed while staying under the thermal threshold once turbo kicks in and the thermal threshold is tripped. I always thought it just downclocked to 600 but being dynamic makes more sense and much better utilization. Thanks Retro, looking forward to the new guide. I appreciate you chatting and sharing the information. I learned something today and it's a Monday! ;)

no no, you are all correct. I should have stated that I understood this problem from the beginning, it slipped my mind to mention that, and it looked like I was simply asking for the "black&white" fix.

Ok, so thats all I wanted to know, theres actually no way to acomplish this. Im ok with keeping the 4:3 ratio... stretching just gives me motion sickness.

@jcx64 - If you're referring to my torrent it's not a self-compressed file; I redownloaded the gzipped original and created a new torrent with it...not sure why the hash doesn't match.

[edit] Just double-checked...did you spot that the official Retropie image is now at 3.8.1? My torrent is the 3.8 version; not sure what the hash is of that file as it's no longer available to download.
Good call mind you, file hashes are something I never check, but probably should when I'm supplying files to other people. If there did happen to be a virus in there I'd never even know about it (Mac/Linux user with no antivirus installed).

Welp, I've done all that and at this point i have literally no idea what could be wrong. for some reason retroarch just wont recognize my gpio inputs not matter what i map them to. I've even tried configuring a controller then going into the joypad config file and changing the inputs to the ones that my pcb buttons are. Still nothing! Its really weird honestly! wish this thing would WORK XP.
Thanks for your help so far though!

OK, I was worried that maybe reinstalling would remove all the daphne files I have already loaded on to my pi.

    Thank you for the help.

Let me refer you to our rather long and chaotic thread on this subject:

    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/42/shanwan-ps3-controller-pi3-retropie-3-6-bluetooth-setup/121

Contained within is a lot of useful info regarding solving this pretty common issue. As promised,I will attempt to write up a guide on how to solve this when I have some time.

@dudleydes thanks for the note. I tried this, but no luck. The tab menu p1 controls still doesn't recognize my ps3 right analog stick.

I just did a trial run using one of my own controllers and it only showed results using event codes rather than js. For those, you'll need to run evtest. What you're looking for there is any listing that starts with "BTN_" after a button is pressed. When a direction is pressed on the DPad, you'll likely see up to three of these. I'll also need to know the event number it's coming from, like "event0" or whatever.

@Oneminde just found this thread after replying to your other post with the UMSA. Did you end up going that way or this. I ask as I've only found HDMI SCART adaptors that are composite not an RGBs option.

I'm going into SCART on a B&O MX4002 TV. That is looking for RGB composite sync (I think from my reading). Very keen to get a true RGB path and 240p for all the scanline goodness.

I gave up trying to find a HDMI to RGB SCART adaptor so have gone HDMI to VGA to UMSA to TV. I've also got an Extron Rxi 202 lying around in case the plan A doesn't work. They can take the VGA H/V sync and output whatever type of RGB sync you need via BNC. Can also convert 480i to 240p with a dip switch on the Extron.

I'll post back once my UMSA is in the chain with results but keen to hear how you've got on.

    @zekkexavior

I've been doing a ton of experimentation with xboxdrv here lately. Unfortunately, none of that experimentation has involved an actual XBox 360 controller. What I too have found is that it seems to universally grab the events from whatever physical controller it's working with and adds a new virtual device. The rub, as you have noticed here, is that it does nothing to remove or even obfuscate the original physical js device entry if one exists. I was working under the assumption that it would remove the entry when using an actual XBox controller, but apparently it does not.

I too am actively considering a few possibilities on how to handle this best, but have not settled on what I would consider a perfect solution. I don't do a lot of multi-player gaming sessions, so it's a problem I plan to put more thought into later, but for now, might I suggest invoking the Rgui during your gaming session and rearranging the controller order to where it is assigned past the number of players that you have. It's not ideal, but it will work.

Edit: Also, @meleu has developed a great way to rearrange the controller order. His work can be found at:

@dotEXE You can by modifying the single "retroarch.cfg" file in /opt/retropie/configs/psx.
If you can upload the file here for me I can try to modify it for you.
