Have you added your kickstart rom? Make sure you read this all the way through if you haven't already.

In all fairness, this software does an excellent job of automating some of the more complicated tasks.

@backstander I would love to try, but I am sadly lacking in knowledge of the raspberry pi to utilize it in such a manner.

if you don't ever scrape your roms it's much faster, but once you have a large gamelist full of meta data, it takes a long time to save (eg to save the last played time, it will have to save a huge file with all the other meta data). One of the downsides of the current xml storage (the unstable branch of ES was to resolve this, but needs some more work still)

That is by design currently. Just ignore them :-)

Almost there ;-) I'd rather have one folder, so I'll put all my roms in the Arcade folder, including the neogeo.zip bios file. Would you suggest I use the 0.173 (fba 0.2.97.38) bios file, since it is the most recent?

it depends on what emulator you're using to run neogeo games in that folder - lr-fba-next will only work using the 0.2.93.38 neogeo.zip, and lr-mame2003 will only work using the 0.78 neogeo.zip.

I'll use fba-next as the default emulator, and use runcommand to play some 0.78 roms (that aren't in the fba 0.2.97.38 set) in mame2003.

Please verify one final time whether my thinking is correct :-)

Ok so I got an old MicroSD Card to install RetroPie on, Flashed my 8Bitdo Controllers back to 1.68 and started fresh, everything worked fine though a couple tweaks had to be made to the es_config as ES would not associate the mapping to the "a" button correctly. After doing this I copied the "all" to my desktop, swapped back to the old RetroPie and deleted everything that "wasn't" in the new setup, then proceeded to copy those files over and verify all the configs looked correct yet still no dice.

I finally said screw it, copied over the Gamelists and downloaded images and just reformatted the card and started a new install, as of now both controllers work fine (with the exception of MAME) registered on 1.68, So why i never did solve the issue with the old setup (must be a config file somewhere else on the system we simply aren't accounting for) The problem has been resolved by starting over. I have been careful not to mess with the settings menu or do any sort of updates to prevent it wanting 1.69+ to function properly as it did last time,.

@kaitlin4599 yep it runs just fine. Just replace the doom wad with the chexquest wad. Eventually the wad selector will be improved so you don't have to manually change things
