FBAlpha, support Mouse?
-
@Clyde i think he means it is a pre-release, notice the - behind. That's also why you won't find ready to use fba 0.2.97.44 romsets yet. Best practice if you want to be able to build any mame/fba romset with clrmamepro is to have latest MAME/HBMAME roms + rollback roms. They aren't hard to find, however it's about 100Go of data.
-
@barbudreadmon Ah, ok. I thought it to be a dash to separate both statements.
-
I never had done this before - No experience with that.... So I'll try to get informations... Especially searching the necessary Tools for MAC .

clrmamepro works through wine (https://www.howtogeek.com/263211/how-to-run-windows-programs-on-a-mac-with-wine/)
-
@barbudreadmon
THX , I already know that. Meanwhile I've setup a VM with Win10. I 'll try clrmamepro.
THX a lot.... -
Okay. If I understand it correct: First, I need 0.204 romset and then "convert" them by using clrmamepro, correct?
THX

Yes.
And the HBMAME romset is only necessary if you are interested in homebrews & hacks.

Thx again. I 'll give it a try over weekend.

And you may also need a "rollback" set for 0.204 that contains all roms from older versions that were replaced, modified or removed in newer versions (edit: an older rollback set may work, since it will be only missing the deprecated roms up to 0.204).

That's true if you want to build a romset for an old version of mame, however, theoretically, fbalpha only use the newest romsets.
-
@barbudreadmon Yes, if I read the release notes for fba 0.2.97.43 correctly, it supports the roms for mame 0.197. I didn't find such information for 0.2.97.44, though.
Lacking deeper knowledge about fba, I just wanted to mention the rollback sets in case some of their content is needed nonetheless.

Oh, it seems more complicated then I expect :-) The only purpose why I want to upgrade lr-fbalpha is, that i want to use the trackball support given by the new version. On the other hand, all my favorite games which supports trackball, e.g. Tempest,Centipide, Arkanoid and so on running well on the other cores like mame 2003, 2010. But at this both cores, I miss the options to config the trackball sensitivity. And even using the core advmame1.4, the Trackball will running well, and also the possibility to config the sensitivity is given, but all the overlays/bezels are not configurable..
So thats "my Problems"... :-) -
@OliB Which version of centipede rom are you using? I am not able to make it run in mame2003 ( only runs in lr-fbalpha)
-
@OliB i'll be honest, i don't understand why trackballs would work better in fba .44 than fba .43, i didn't implement any specific code about this
-
The centipide romset version that I use is 0.139 and running perfect under core mame 2010
-
Hm.. I 've read somewhere that Trackballs are NOT supported @ fba.43 in general - isn't it? Well, If fba.43 support Trackball, then I'm to stupid to get my Trackball running there..
-
@OliB most likely i need to implement mouse support for this, i'll look at this stuff when i have some time.
-
@barbudreadmon That would be great , THX
-
@OliB i added some mouse support, i'm interested by some feedback, things to know :
- you have to select "Mouse" as device type in
quick menu > controls
- at the moment i only map the 2 analog axis to the mouse, i left buttons mapped to the pad (i think trackball users actually use trackball + pad ?)
- obviously, if the game doesn't support analogs in fbalpha, it will keep using dpad; and sadly fbalpha don't use analogs for centipede yet
- i also added a core option named "Analog Speed", it should be what you call sensitivity (lesser value = moving slower)
Edit : i renamed device type to "Trackball + Pad buttons"
- you have to select "Mouse" as device type in

First and foremost, thank you very much for starting to work on mouse support.
The U-Trak trackball from Ultimarc comes with an USB interface that supports mouse button mapping, as does the SpinTrak spinner. The trigger and two side buttons of their AimTrak lightgun also map to the left, right, and middle mouse buttons. Thus, mouse button support would be great for users of these devices. (I am still in the early configuration and learning phase of my pairs of AimTraks and SpinTraks, so I don't have very deep knowledge of their nuts and bolts, figuratively speaking.)
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
