@Davedrumx I know this is quite old topic but I believe the thing you are.. or atleast were looking for is SBI Files for certain PS1 Pal games. They can be downloaded from psxdatacenter and possibly from other places too like internet archive.

@pcnoob90 try to find .spi file from your game (maybe your game is protect "epsxe").
I have the same problem for FF IX and FF VIII. Add the spi file solve the Black screen for me.

@pcnoob90 First, give us some more details about your system and problem and answer the questions from https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

2nd, the most frequent issue for PSX or cd based games are:

BIOS file is missing - this is specific to the PS1 emulator. Check the emulator page in the docs and make sure the bios file is present and has the correct name. your .cue and .bin are not correctly named - Linux is case sensitive for file names so check your .cue files (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/PC-Engine/#pc-engine-cd).

@amused86 Good luck dude. Its a great prezzy to get for sure :)

Could you pick up the rom / disks from elsewhere and replace the ones which you have on your box? worth a shot i guess.
