Non-working controls on updated PS1 emulator (pcsx-rearmed)
-
@mitu
Only for PS1 games.
I bind hotkeys in the retroarch menu to get back standard behaviour. Now OK.I didn't try to re-configure the gamepad. I will try to reset the configuration for retroarch when lunching ps1 games and see.

You may have reset RetroArch's config for PS1, in which case the RetroPie defaults (including auto-configuration of joypads) might not apply. This isn't related to the topic at hand, so if you still have issues with this, then open a new topic please.

@mitu
Thanks for your good return. I will do if needed. -
I was going to post to ask if it was normal that WipEout (the first one) didn't seem to take analogue stick input!?
Maybe it could be this thing? -

No, it's not that - as said in the topic starter, the symptoms of this problem is that your input doesn't work at all. Check if the controller type is set to 'Dualshock' in the controls settings - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Playstation-1/#the-controller-problem-digital-only-analog.

Maybe it could be this thing?the first wipeout came out before the analog controller so doesn’t support it. it does however support the negcon, so there may be a core option that translates analog to that
-
Ahh cool that would explain it then! I have this on my old PS1 somewhere in a loft but that's back in Europe so can't test it.

Today after updating to the latest version, I followed steps mentioned in this thread. My PS3 controller is working back again, EXCEPT for the analog sticks. I have checked every possible setting, and the setting for selecting the "pad type" is nowhere. It used to be in the quick menu but now it's completely gone after updating. Any idea on how to recover it? Before updating I had changed it to "dualshock" but now it's nowhere to be found.
Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and using the lr-pcsx-rearmed core.
-
@retrodaniel I think the controller type has moved under the Controls menu, it's no longer under the core options.

Yeah, I've seen that menu, however, the "pad type" where you can choose "dualshock" or "standard" isn't there. In the Controls menu there is only "device type" which can't be changed.
-
@retrodaniel It can be changed and this is where the controller type is set (dualshock/negcon/guncon). Are you sure you're using the latest version of
lr-pcsx-rearmed
? -

?Do you mean here? This is the only place where I see negcon/guncon.
Under "help" it says
1.8.8 - PCXSX-ReARMed (r22 3aa64bb)
. -
@retrodaniel No, under Controls, choose the controller # and then device type is where you set the controller type.
-
@mitu yeah, I've been in that menu, but the controller type can not be changed. That setting (controller type) does not trigger any other menu or toggle for it to be changed.
Edit: facepalm it is now changed with the left and right buttons on the D-pad. Before that it was changed by selecting it and going through a list of options. The user experience for these menus is rather awful tbh.
-
@mitu thanks by the way :)

I created another post about this before. There is another way to do this on certain versions of retroarch the menu is slightly different and you have to access the options and also the input settings in the previous menu before the quick launch menu.
