lr-fbalpha: ddtod and ddsom don't work anmore
-
With RetroPie 4.1 we have got a new version of lr-fba-next which was renamed to lr-fbalpha.
Now both Dungeons & Dragons roms ddtod and ddsom do not work anymore. They did work before this update.I checked my roms with clrmamepro and https://github.com/libretro/fbalpha/blob/master/dats/FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 (ClrMame Pro XML).dat.zip
Does anyone have a fix for this?

@jimbo27
So just now, I thought to myself "hey, I KNOW those work as I tested them when I first upgraded to RetroPie 4.1"....so I tested them literally 3 minutes ago. Both loaded like normal in lr-fbalpha, both 0.175/0.2.97.39 versions, both verified with ClrmamePro. BUT, neither worked with my controllers (this is a recent problem of late with several systems for me for some reason...), so the first thing I did (since I know my controllers work in EmulationStation and in other emulators, is I reloaded from source lr-fbalpha, and guess what? NONE of my lr-fbalpha/0.175 ROMs work now. All worked literally a day or two ago (I think I was doing some testing then).The only think I can think of is this is a problem with the RetroPie source for lr-fbalpha - something got corrupted or bricked server-side in the last day or so.
I'm actually building from scratch a new 64gb card I got so when that's done I'll see if this problem exists in that build as well.
EDIT if you update from BINARY (not source like I always do) the game will run, but my controllers won't work (although weirdly select+start will exit you out, and select+X does enter the RetroArch menu where the controller buttons work....I have no clue if this is a just-me problem or what...)
EDIT 2 – 1:50am EST Controller problem seems to be my own and nothing to do with this, BUT, updating lr-fbalpha from source is definitely faulty and I can't play anyh 0.175 roms with lr-fbalpha. Updating from binary and I can play these two D&D ROMs, and my other 0.175 ROMs without any issues...I just hope the 'nightlies' (which is what you ger then you "update from source", right???) don't automatically get rolled over to the "Binary" install after so many days...or a LOT more people are going to have issues.

I found my problem. I had not used Clrmamepro properly. I had not searched for missing roms so I missed the *.key files which now are needed for some roms. I replaced those roms with proper ones (fb alpha 0.2.97.39) and now everything works again. :)
Thank you for take a look on my problem! :)

@jimbo27
Mine are all proper with .key files....still wasn't working when updating form source, on two different Pi's...works perfect with binary update. -
And you don't get any error while building from source ?

@barbudreadmon
I never see the end of the building from source process (as my monitor usually dims by the time it's finished, but there's not the pop-up dialog box saying there's an error so I assume it worked properly. -

I'll load up SFIII when I get home - only have like 7 or 8 roms that don't work in mame2003, which I use lr-fbalpha for (I recently went back to mame2003 for like 95% of my roms).

We know, the OP was trying them in 0.175 so I loaded them into 0.175 as a test to see if I had a similar problem - which I did...until I reloaded lr-fbalpha from binary.
I only have to run Metal Slug 4, 5, 6, SFIII (which I will double check tonight like I mentioned), and SNK vs. Capcom - SVC Chaos in 0.175 - ALL my others work in 2003.

fair enough. i just checked, they also all work on my source build of lr-fbalpha. getting the latest .39 neogeo.zip is probably crucial.

@dankcushions
I just rebuilt from source, and manually watched it through all the way - all my 0.175 ROMs work fine. FML. I tried this on TWO different Pi's over the weekend, built-from-source maybe 3x times total. Only thing I can think of is I was smoking crack ;)or there was a problem with a file(s) it was pulling off the server as it built it from source...just another random RetroPie problem I've experienced. -

Nope, i'm the maintainer of fbalpha-libretro, there was no change at all those last 9 days, and no change that could break game loading for months. An ICE (Internal Compiler Error) seems more likely, and i experienced those happening randomly on raspbian. Could also be corruption on your sd card, is your rpi overclocked ?
-
@barbudreadmon
No, no overclocking. Tried two different SD cards (one from me testing a new SD card cloning software on my 128gb Samsung Evo+, and the other was a fresh install on a brand new Samsung Evo+ 64gb card). I just chalk it up to another random RetroPie encounter ;) ...like how all my controllers just stopped working last week I mentioned above (and like 50 other things to date lol)...
