    I had also been creating .cue files for my .IMG games which created a duplicate. I deleted the .cue files for the games that were in .IMG format

    I am having the same issue, but my Monitor is 2 years old. i have tired every setting option in the /boot/config.txt. I am going to be looking at the HDMI to DVI adapter i have. That being said if there is any other place to change some stuff i would love some advise.

    Thanks

    @Muffy @Gramps

    You need a receiver similar to this: xbox wireless receiver

    no driver needed for the receiver

    plug in and connect controller to receiver like you would on an xbox... make sure you are using the xpad driver and not xboxdrv. ES will recognize controller once it is synced with the new receiver... setup controller in ES and play! (use link from mediamogul above as needed)

    I have just got my Pigrrl parts and have only just begun my build so feel free to take my suggestion with a grain of salt. Wouldn't be easier to map analog function to the touch screen as a mouse? I know with PC emulation I do this with a few games.

    I too have this issue with both drivers. The Xpad driver seemed to work the best as far as being able to wake up from a sleep or suspend mode whereas the xboxdrv wouldn't work very well if at all doing this previously.

    I have constant and random lock ups or more or less the controller just stops working period and I have to reboot the system to get back to where I was. This can happen within a game or just out in Emulationstation and going from game to game or using the bumpers to skip pages.

    Here was the thing, the Xpad seemed to work flawlessly on 4.0 without any updates. But I'm one to keep my Pi3 and RetroPie totally up to date so I have updated daily and it's now showing as 4.0.1 and this was when I had to switch back to the xboxdrv from the Xpad driver. Again though neither are fully functional and stable by any means at least not for me and now on 4.0.1.

  • How much space should I allow for future upgrades?

    Assuming that the upgrade process won't take more space than the size of the base installation itself (e.g. if the base install is 3GB, the compressed packages for upgrading won't be 3GB themselves), and assuming that the increase in the size (post upgrade process) wouldn't be nearly that much... I'd say 4+ GB free is a nice safe amount (and probably overkill).

    Given the price of USB flash and microSD cards, I'd whole-heartedly recommend paying some $10 in exchange for quintuple the space and not having to worry about this. I'm particularly partial to Sandisk Ultra Fit drives, solely because they're the size of a wireless keyboard dongle and cheap.

    Boosted the signal to 8 and I got an image but it was very fuzzy and looked like it was using less colours. So I then tried to boost it to 5,6,7 and got no image

    Will buy a new HDMI cable when I am on my travels today but find it unlikely to be the cable itself as once upon a time the cable I am using now did provide an image via the AV receiver.

    I removed all the duplicates and still this does not work.

    The odd thing is that I seem to have a retroarch.cfg file appear in the libretro-Mame folder which does not look like my setup, its like a bunch of random keys. I will paste this in this evening when I am back at home.

    AHA! Think I've fixed it.

    Find the gamelist .xml file for psx, delete it, then rescrape the game data.

    Hi @xxghostbusterxx

    In my previous experience, a WSOD (white screen of death) in Emulation Station is caused by too low a GPU Memory. You didn't specify which guide you followed, is there a chance that you changed this when trying to overclock the pi?

    If you exit to the prompt by pressing F4 (even in a WSOD) and run:

    sudo nano /boot/config.txt

    modify the gpu_mem line to:

    gpu_mem= 256

    Then press Ctrl+X, Y (to save the file)

    then type:

    sudo shutdown -r -t 0 now

    This should reboot the pie. If you still get a White Screen of Death, try changing to a different theme in emulationstation (press start on the controller, the menu will still appear).
