FBAlpha, support Mouse?
-
Hm.. I 've read somewhere that Trackballs are NOT supported @ fba.43 in general - isn't it? Well, If fba.43 support Trackball, then I'm to stupid to get my Trackball running there..
-
@OliB most likely i need to implement mouse support for this, i'll look at this stuff when i have some time.
-
@barbudreadmon That would be great , THX
-
@OliB i added some mouse support, i'm interested by some feedback, things to know :
- you have to select "Mouse" as device type in
quick menu > controls
- at the moment i only map the 2 analog axis to the mouse, i left buttons mapped to the pad (i think trackball users actually use trackball + pad ?)
- obviously, if the game doesn't support analogs in fbalpha, it will keep using dpad; and sadly fbalpha don't use analogs for centipede yet
- i also added a core option named "Analog Speed", it should be what you call sensitivity (lesser value = moving slower)
Edit : i renamed device type to "Trackball + Pad buttons"
- you have to select "Mouse" as device type in

First and foremost, thank you very much for starting to work on mouse support.
The U-Trak trackball from Ultimarc comes with an USB interface that supports mouse button mapping, as does the SpinTrak spinner. The trigger and two side buttons of their AimTrak lightgun also map to the left, right, and middle mouse buttons. Thus, mouse button support would be great for users of these devices. (I am still in the early configuration and learning phase of my pairs of AimTraks and SpinTraks, so I don't have very deep knowledge of their nuts and bolts, figuratively speaking.)
-
I only use my arcade sticks & buttons (no classic pads) and the Trackball at my Bartop I'll give it a try later on this day... THX

One Question: U say that u have add some mouse support - that means that I've update my current running fba core via retropie menu?
Sorry for this maybe dummy question, but I'm a neewbie here.. :-) THX -

Yes, my new code won't magically appear in your current core ;).
-
:-) THX

@barbudreadmon
Okay. After update I'm now Version on Version 0.2.97.44 cfbe1e1.
But I couldn't choose a different Device Type in quick menu as I already have...
I've updated "only" binary - should I update faba again via Source?THX again..........

Yes, use the source update. It will take some time to compile, but you'll have the latest version.
-
Right now Source Update is running... Hope there are no problems with my current romset after update.. Otherwise I have to restore my 256 GB Image backup... :-(
Or is there a way to rollback to the "old " fba version?THX
-
@OliB You can save your existing binary, backup the
/opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-fbalpha
folder. -

For the most part, your romset should be ok, but there'll be slight changes for some roms between .43 and .44 . I can't tell you how many of them though, you'll have to use clrmamepro + (hb)mame 0.204 romsets to fix this.
-
@barbudreadmon
THX again. I've heard about that clrmamepro tool and take a quick look at it... but I'm afraid I don't understand the whole story :-) For now, I understand that I've to convert the roms which are not running anymore using clrmamepro to the fba .44 Version. What else did i need too? Sorry agin for that questions, but I still learn to understand this... -
FBA .44 Source Update is finished. I can see now the added Trackball settings. Will play around with that. It also seems as I'm on the lucky side - my favorite games are still running :-) Will see what happens if I try a new game which isn't supported. In meanwhile, I will skill up myself regarding clrmamepro. Current I've found a MAC OS version of clrmamepro and also, the as far as i know needed FBA .043 DAT file.
-
@OliB said in FBAlpha, support Mouse?:
the as far as i know needed FBA .043 DAT file.
I provide an up-to-date dat file in the repo : https://github.com/libretro/fbalpha/blob/master/dats/FB Alpha v0.2.97.44 (ClrMame Pro XML).dat
Don't use some random dat from some random website, people (including distributions like retropie) like copying a dat file, including it in their docs, then never updating it, instead of directly linking the one which is updated every time there is a change on a romset...
-
@barbudreadmon The dats folder from the source repository is automatically added in the installation folder for
lr-fbalpha
in RetroPie. -
@mitu people are supposed to read doc at https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FinalBurn-Alpha/, and the dat there is wrong, i don't think many people will check the sources of what they built for potential dat files
-
@barbudreadmon you can update the wiki to point to the right one if you want. i told the person who mistakenly changed it to the wrong link, but i'm tired of policing the wiki if people won't correct their mistakes :/
