@jose1711 said in Tesla PMD-85 computer in RetroPie?:

multi-game tapes (such as games-1.ptp) are lacking information about the position of the game on the tape - is trial&error the only option

Pretty much, combined with using savestates.

What I do is, if I've got a tape with (say) five games on it, I make five copies of it and give each one the name of a different game.

Then I load the first one, note the tape count, and make a savestate at the start of the game.

Then I go to the second file, start it at the tape count I just noted, load the second game and make a savestate at the start of the game. And so on.

Now I've got five files in the EmulationStation menu called GAME 1, GAME 2 etc (even though they're all technically the same file), and all I have to do is boot them up then load the savestate to play them instantly.

@unspacey To put it another way, by changing the "setting" as you describe it to use 2003, what you are doing is telling RetroPie which version of MAME you want to use. To succeed, the game you are launching must be a ROM from the version .78 set.

@pjft MACs aren't my thing, I leave them to the GF and the young wan. Everyone I see talks about dd In fact I saw etcher get ripped to shreds on reddit by people criticising them for just over-complicating dd. Saying that, I do like a nice GUI and I have no issues with it. Straight into a zip? You could ask them to add it. They seem like they are willing to help.

@Gryphon RetroPie already installs a compiler, you need to install the dependencies, as described in https://docs.mamedev.org/initialsetup/compilingmame.html#debian-and-ubuntu-including-raspberry-pi-and-odroid-devices, download the source archive, unpack it and then run make from the sources folder - with the options outlined in the docs.
Here an outline of the process (you can skip any SDL installation commands, they're not needed on a RetroPie installation).

Well, I change from the theme SIMPLE to CARBON. No more problem. I made my new NES thems for the ROMs Hack and it works fine!

      Thanks you all!

@PopetheRevXXVIII which emulator are you using for nes? Fceumm cuts off on both sides on every game. Nestopia displays correctly.
