      @mitu

Yes, I did what you said and I succeeded to lower boot time to 11 seconds for libretro emulator but only through autostart.sh.
However, non-libretro emulators still starts about 5 seconds faster through the rc.local script and I dont know what else I could do here.
It seems runcommand is a problem, because for some reason it refuses to start through rc.local properly...

      Hi,

I had RetroPie running on Mint for a short time and I didn't need to mess with the fullscreen options. All I did was add a startup delay of 3 seconds to the RetroPie entry. This stopped the issue. I would leave it as fullscreen and try that? I think this happens because if ES starts before X is running it doesn't launch. Not sure though but a slight delay should resolve.

@alexck said in Auto starting a file:

if I already succeeded in starting the program and just want to know how to automatically start it at boot

      This one.

If you already know what command to start the program you need, you only have to put the same command in /etc/rc.local file and add a & symbol in the end of the line.

      I hope I am clear... ;-)

By the way, is english you native language? I'm not trying to make fun of you, this is not my native language... If you're able to speak portuguese, I am too. ;-)

@Mr.-Waffles It seems to be a known bug: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/4820

There's a workaround that you can try here: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/4820#issuecomment-294326479

What do you mean when you pick an emulator. You usually pick an emulator after selecting a rom. Do you mean when selecting the system it automatically opens a rom?

Thanks guys, autostart seems to load much faster now.
However, there is still the problem that "warp mode" is still seems to be turned on after the game starts.
I enabled the statusbar and it says that VICE is running at 187%
However, the asterisk in the emulator-menu for warp mode is not showing.

Maybe using a fastload .crt is a solution.
However i still don't get it that the builds for Pi and Win are so different in their behaviour.

@herb_fargus I'll give the workarounds a try tomorrow but I don't think it's the same issue. I don't get any errors or crashes or anything - i can even switch to another console. It's literally that startx just leads to a blank black screen.
