@roslof not too sure what was going on with your romsets, i'm able to load merged 7z romsets without issues, even after renaming files so that they have matching name in the subfolder (that wasn't the case by default with those 2 romsets for me, names were slightly different), so i don't think that was the problem
Email me if you wish to have the versions that exhibit the problem. I kept them in case you would like to investigate.
-
@roslof that would be nice but i don't have your email (not appearing in your profile for me, it's probably only showing for you), anyway i don't recommend showing emails in public places like a forum so it might be better to join us on discord or to pm me on FBNeo forum ?

I'm not able to run namco na-1 and nb-1. The other stuffs run perfectly.I'm using MAME romset 0.229
I'm using Up-to-date clrmamepro dat files from https://github.com/libretro/FBNeo/tree/master/datsDid I miss something ? I run It on a Pi 4
That's fine now. I added namcoc75, namcoc70 and 69 BIOSes and now it works. My game Roms was good.
-
@dteam oops, it seems i missed your original msg, sorry about that, yeah those romsets require new bioses

I really recommend "The Outfoxies", it's a hidden gem.
I agree 👍🏻.
Thanks for the info. -
Fairchild ChannelF was added to the list of supported subsystems (i guess this one will require an update of the retropie setup script)
-
@theissdev dink added Ms PacMan Twin this week-end :)
-
@barbudreadmon <Happy Dance> OMG you guys are BEASTS! Thanks!
My wife is going to freak. out!

@barbudreadmon quick message to thank you and the whole FBNeo team for the incredible work done on that software. It's been a while since I fiddled with Arcade-era games (I was still using FBNeo 0.2.x.xx) and it's been a pleasant surprise to see Midway games are now fully supported but also Outfoxies!! Even if the latter does have sound crackling on Pi4 it is fully playable and it's amazing.
For the record, on a pi4 overall FBNeo does much better than MAME for SEGA System 16 (Altered Beast, Alien Storm, etc), Taito (Riding Fight, Elevator Action Returns, etc), Psikyo (gunbird2, Dragon Blaze), IGS (Demon Front, Kov, etc) and of course all CPS-3 boards. Worth mentioning that another of my favorite Thunder Zone (aka Desert Assault from Data East) also runs fullspeed on FBNeo - not the case on MAME. Kung Fu Master is also playing fullspeed on FBNeo.
To be fair on a Pi4 the latest MAME (.230) surprisingly works also very well. It plays fullspeed plenty of games (I tested around ~400 of them). Except 2 System 32 games (Jurassic Park and Spiderman) which both run fullspeed on MAME2016.
Thanks again and I can't wait to see what new drivers and "optimizations" will be added in the future.

In retroarch-core-options.cfg Have you set :
fbneo-frameskip = "1"
This should solve your sound problem.

You should probably avoid setting it globally though, frameskip should only be required for a few systems on pi4.

@dankcushions @DTEAM @barbudreadmon thanks to all. To be honest even without skipping it's fine by me as I'm so excited to be (finally!) able to play Outfoxies.
I do have another question though. Hope you don't mind me asking about the low audio volume in Midway games. Same issue on MAME and I'd like to understand the reason behind. I've experienced various volume levels in different games but in case of Midway's (MKs, WrestleMania, etc) it's like there's almost no sound at all unless you raise the volume to the max. What causes this please?
-
@nemo93 for the Midway games, you have to go into the service menu (where you can select difficulty or free play, etc) and raise the volume there.
-
@nemo93 i believe that's just how those PCBs initialize themselves by default, iirc in FBNeo we already "boost" the volume for those games
-
@barbudreadmon @dodonpachi thanks again for the answers. Much helpful.
-
added support for the recently dumped "Mrs Dynamite", a game from 1982 which feels like a mix of pacman and bomberman
-
Btw, i highly recommend the new "lowpass filter" core option i added around 2 months ago, to the point i've been thinking of enabling it by default. This core option is basically trying to mimic the amp present on most arcade PCBs, so the games will sound a lot more authentic, the only downside is that it might actually cause some crackles in a few of them, but that's something we can fix if it's reported.
