The only reason to do it manually would be to have more options around the flags that can be set I think.

Yes that's the reason I mentioned the binary files.

    Hello.
Thanks for reply, that confirmed my experience.
Have done a raspberry, retropie, Gameboy DMG mod, with a 3.5" "backup monitor" with composite in.
Picture is ok but not good, there are some disturbance in picture, maybe this could be done better by doing some (emc) shielding on picture signal cable. Or rerouting it in dmg case.

It was then i had this 3.5 Waveshare screen who would give so much better picture to this setup if it had been fast enough.
But now after several evenings and hours installing and reinstalling Retropie im about to give up this screen for this project.

But i also have a Itead 2.8 itdb02 tft screen.
Who will fit into a Gameboy Pocket or Color, maybe this will give better fps.
But i have big problems figuring out how to wire/ connnect it to the Pi, because it is not a direct plug on but have to use wire

I tried the Atari route and got there in the end, it's a little tricky and I suffered with 'Bum Copy' messages a few times, but it does work.

I also tried the PSX route too and I have to admit, it's much easier.

However, the PSX route offers slightly lower quality graphics (the text for the scores at the top isn't as sharp as it is on the Atari version) but there isn't much noticeable different in-game so I think I'm going to stick with the PSX version (which also loads a lot quicker).

I might need to make some tweaks somewhere though as the PSX uses some odd keyboard controls (I'm using arcade controls on an I-Pac2) so I might need to remap something to make it easier to use.

    But, it works!!!

    I can play IK+ !!!

This is just brilliant, absolutely bloody brilliant!

    Thanks everyone :))

If you want me to take another shot at compiling and running it, I suggest you add the info from this thread to a new issue on my issue tracker as I'm about to move to another province and won't be around for a little while.

    https://github.com/zerojay/RetroPie-Extra/issues

And again, I was able to compile it, but it complains about EGL issues at launch, requires X and didn't appear to work through glshim despite what was said about it being mobile compatible.

Just wanted to say congrats! I'm new to the forums. My past experiences with Retropie have been bittersweet. It's been something I wanted to mess around with but could never quite figure out (mainly how to set up and map the controls) but I gotta say this has been the easiest Retropie image to set up. There wasn't much extensive information out there before which BTW Shoutouts to ETAPrime and @Floob for their helpful Youtube videos!

I have a couple of older + Pi models lying around which I plan to repurpose for Retropie projects. I have an A+ I want to make a handheld and I'm thinking of maybe making a simple cabinet with my B+. I'm currently running Retropie on the Pi2 for my niece and nephew. I'm planning on setting up the image on my Pi3 soon as I've already tried it and things seem to run slightly better than on the Pi2 IMO.

Thank you to The Retropie Team for all the hard work they've put into making Retropie what it is! Keep up the good work!

Kodi 16.1 is now available for installation/update in RetroPie, through the Experimental Menu.

This is a minor update, so pretty much only bug fixes. Here is the official announcement/changelog:
    https://kodi.tv/kodi-16-1-jarvis-mark-xvi

Besides this, here is some of the most important changes to this RetroPie version:

Out-of-the-box support also for XBOX 360 controllers, which use the xboxdrv. Fix for possible ocassional frame skipping when some input devices are connected like, IR devices and Joysticks. Fix screen resolution when exiting Kodi to ES, when global system resolution (in config.txt) is different from Kodi's. Fix LIRC devices

Also new to RetroPie is the ARMv7 optimized version, for Raspberry Pi 2 and 3 users, but the corresponding repo should be added later in the script by Jools
    @BuZz, check your mail ;)

    Enjoy.

@jakrchris it's opensource so anyone can fork it. None of the devs have that board so its unlikely to be supported anytime soon

I also realised quite how old the PSX is compared to the other systems, released in 1995 in Europe, 1994 in Japan! Even older than the N64.

@xFlesk Really appreciate the detailed instructions, will give it a shot!

@vincedj I have tried the config updates and is fine but wanted it with minimal loading times. Savestates are perfect on most systems but doesn't look possible to launch directly into one here.

there's a bunch of new clones etc added so there will be a new dat. also, some existing Roms may have changed as it's been synced with a newer version with mame.

I didn't update my set when .37 came out as there's wasn't anything I cared about and I won't do now. older sets should be fine for the most part.

@sselph You could utilize the autosave_interval setting in retroarch.cfg for situations like that. Retroarch will periodically write the save data to your .srm file according to what you set, so you would be safe in the event of a crash or power loss.

Unless things have changed I think all of the current authorized resellers still have a 1 per customer limit. I don't think that all the zeros are being snapped up by ebay scalpers.

What I think is that these resellers are the actual scalpers, by only offering very, very few of the $5 zeros, with the bulk of their stock being sold as part of a padded "package".

    https://www.adafruit.com/products/2817

Those packs will be in stock for quite a few days, and then sell out to those who'll give in and overpay for yet another set of hdmi adapters, cables, sdcards, power supplys and header strips, so they can get their hands on an actual zero.
