@jay81uk check out Sony vs connectix or bleem and you'll see that not once have emulators been ruled illegal in a court of law. Now if an emulator ships with copyrighted code like BIOS or games like ROMs litigation is guaranteed.

Emulators are nothing more than a codec for video games, just like a DVD is no more than a codec for a filmstrip. Having a DVD is not illegal, downloading a movie, and selling a DVD with someone else's movie on it is. Same with emulators and roms. Frank cifaldi gave a fantastic speech on emulation and why it's been vilified.

well going from 4.0 beta 2 to 4.0.1 something has changed. i still can use both keyboard and controller as player 1 but in msx i no longer have the keyboard function as a keyboard even except when i set:

input_libretro_device_p2 = "3"

You incorrectly edited the file then and broke the xml or something. Open a new topic for the controller issue.

I use this one for Centipede and Millipede (lr-mame2003): HAPP 3" Solid Color Trackball with USB & PS/2 interface.

FYI, problem was resolved by replacing the 3rd party power supply with the official Pi 3 power supply: https://thepihut.com/collections/raspberry-pi-power-supplies/products/official-raspberry-pi-universal-power-supply

Problem has not returned since, my guess is that the 3rd party power supply had enough to power on the pi, but not enough to proceed past the RetroPie splash screen and onto Emulation Station, hence the reboot issue coming about.

Thought I'd post this as a follow-up in case anyone else falls victim to the same issue.

On the Configuration Editor page of Github, the picture of the retropie page is actually a video, couldn't tell until I accidently clicked on it.

Great video and well done, Ive tried Wing Commander and it looks great, brings me back to the eighties and tron! Thanks for the help.

Have you tried playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Iron and Blood? the resolution on the main menu is so bad no matter what I do.. Sigh

Okay, now I feel silly...

I forgot I had a Network Switch between my Raspberry Pi and my router and I power cycled it and reseated all cables and now my Raspberry Pi is working even though my Roku was working before without any problems.

This issue is resolved! Thanks for your help @BuZz and time on this!

Please update to the latest RetroPie-Setup - and try removing xboxdrv and instead using the xpad driver (from Packages -> drivers)

You probably need to use https://github.com/chrippa/ds4drv

RetroPie is built on Raspbian. So to get to it just quit Emulation Station using the menu (Press Start) or press F4 on the keyboard.
