LXDE is installable on any version of retropie - it's just been added to the menus to make it easier without having to drop to command prompt.

    Hey thanks for the reply

Sorry this is the first time i have really played with the PI (only had it 2 weeks) I cannot find that directory :(

If i map a drive to the PI i can see \configs\all\emulationstation with the following files in
    es_input.cfg
    es_input.cfg.bak
    es_input.cfg.save
    es_log.txt
    es_settings.cfg
    es_temporaryinput.cfg

    and in \configs\megadrive i see
    content_history.lpl
    dgenrc
    emulators.cfg
    retroarch.cfg
    retroarch.cfg.rp-dist

By the looks of it there must have been an update done because now the only directories i actually see are now
    BIOS
    Configs
    Roms
    Splashscreens

Cut it up, scrape off two traces, wire em up, test it and see, if it works no point wasting any money. Should be an easy solder job as there are large solder points already provided, you just need to scrape some soldermask off for the ground, and don't forget to scrape off copper to separate those buttons on the dpad side (shown as white lines). G'luck.

Sounds like you have removed some python packages or your python install is broken. This could be due to corruption, or a faulty card or user error. Recommend starting from a fresh image.

  • "general purpose" controllers for NES, PS1, Atari?

I have tried to use things that I have:

-WiiMote - Always been a pain and never quite worked (I need to try again though)

-PS1/PS2 controllers through USB adapter - This worked out of the box with an ancient radio shack adapter and I have since gone to the cheap dual playstation usb adapter. It works fins as long as both controllers match (don't mix analog and non-analog). I picked up some 6 foot cable extenders and the 2 controllers reach across the room. I will probably pick up a used playstation arcade stick at some point as well.

-Microsoft Sidewinder USB Joystick - Picked it up at a yard sale and it works, but it's too big for most systems that were designed to use a short arcade joystick.

-Cheap USB NES USB pad - Works okay, but feels cheap and has a really short cord

-Cheap SNES USB pad - Works better than the nes pad but still a short cord

I like the idea of bluetooth, but it's really finicky. The PS3 controllers are probably better supported than the Wiimote+Classic Controller, but they are also expensive and the generic PS3 controllers are a real roll of the dice quality-wise.

One final thought: The Playstation dual analog controllers (Xbox 360 probably is the same with twin sticks) are also nice because you can map the d-pad to a stick whick is a lot nicer for Atari and most shooters. It's passable for fighters that don't need 6 buttons (but I grew up on PS1 Tekken so I'm used to PS fighting style).

I think it's always worth having either an old PS pad with adapter or even a cheapie SNES pad around because they basically work out of the box. Anything wireless requires some setup and can be a hassle. Also, you can still use an adapted PS pad or usb pad with other devices (PC/Tablet).

Yep, better to just hide it from the menu. Rename the folder to dreamcast_hidden

    Hi All.

I have been able to resolve my xin-mo issue, but I still face the issue of my network not seeing or connecting to my Raspberry Pi. I've checked cables, router and all seems in order. LAN lights are on, on the PI but I just cannot connect. Does it need to be in a certain screen or state in order to connect?

I reflashed the SD card using RetroPie v3.7, and now everything is working almost perfectly. All previously mentioned issues have been resolved, but now there's 1 new issue that I can't seem to get fixed.
On the 2nd xbox 360 controller, everything seems to be mapped and working properly, except for the left analog stick. The Analog to Digital is set to "Left Analog" in all of the config files, but for some reason it still isnt working.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Actually figured it out. I erased all the shaders I put in and then placed them back in. Seems to work now with curvature.

    Hi all,

Yeah I'm using the built in Bluetooth and I'm now 99% sure that is what's been causing my problems.

I've loaded a new sd card tonight and used an wired controller and not had a single freeze.

Someone familiar with this system should take a look at your changes and see if they are worthwhile for retropie as a whole.

It was the renderer. Switching to GL fixed it. Not sure how it got unset, I must have been playing in there...

    Thanks!
