thanks herb, yes i got it working and added games for some reason i can't add all the spectrum games but did all the c64 with no problem. my only new issue now is the controls...spectrum the controller i have works fine but not easy to get back to the retropie menu...c64 controller does not work and keys are so scatted i don't which to press and only way to return to retropie is to unplug the pi.

at least i am almost there :)

you can save every time you exit - it's a retroarch/libretro function. however there is currently an outstanding issue with it: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/3049

Fixed it. I installed Lakka instead. (www.lakka.tv). Worked 100% perfectly first try.

@eddyman1us I can look at the quoting/escaping. In the meantime you can always adjust the essid. Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I finally gave up and just reinstalled Retropie and now it's all working.

You could try setting up your wifi from the command line and reboot your RPi. https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/wireless/wireless-cli.md

Looks like it's tome for me to look back at what's being used. Certainly, trying to render at 1080p is going to use a lot more GPU than 480p. And if someone doesn't like the look @ 480p, they should look at the original N64 hardware running through a flat screen! (S-video helps a lot: that or having the $$ and hardware to do the HDMI and RGB mods.)

To sum up my thoughts: N64 emulation is really hard and it's not the hardware itself that seems to be the limiting factor. The actual emulation is extremely difficult.

Figured it out! Dental Pick!

I'm on 3.8.1 and my PS3 controller is working via Bluetooth just fine. I should mention that it is a fresh install (I did not upgrade from a previous version).

Do you have a PS3? If you plug it in to that and turn it on with the PS button I think it resets itself. Then go to RetroPie setup and try to setup the controller again?
