@basarb Please generate a verbose log, which will show more information about what's going on than that brief one does, then upload its contents to pastebin.com and share that link here.

I face indeed the same issue, i recently started using my Pi3B+ again to make a Sega only system, and after a clean install, FBNEO performs really poorly. compared to the FBALPHA it used to run before i stopped using that Pi.
In any event I'll try the suggestions here, and also have a look which version is included by default before i update it.

@Zodiark12 said in FBNeo Set missing samples?:

this seems to be for 1.0.0.0 while I'm using the set 0.2.97.44.

they didn't change for months, maybe years, so that won't be a problem

If your roms are already on a Linux/unix/mac, you can use these scrips: https://gist.github.com/ReallyVasiliy/32c33be595408d353e37999ce305ea4d

You need to save each file on the target system, and give them execute permissions (in the terminal, run “chmod a+x move”).

move: moves the roms specified in the file <arg1>, which are contained in directory <arg2>, to a new directory <arg2>/<arg1>. An example terminal command could be:
      $ move somewhere/Clones.txt /userdata/roms/fbneo
Will move files specified in Clones.txt from /userdata/roms/fbneo to /userdata/roms/fbneo/Clones

The remove script has the same arguments but simply deletes them permanently instead of moving.

@sirwin44 said in Question about Sets for MAME and FB:

Do i need all parts of gameX.zip for it to run properly?

it depends. is your romset collection non-merged? if so, each romset should be standalone. see https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Validating,-Rebuilding,-and-Filtering-ROM-Collections#crash-course-in-arcade-rom-terminology

@showstopper said in FBA Neo Romset help?:

For the HBMAME bit is there a list of the files that are required?

No, sorry, but apart from the few dkong hacks i added a few weeks ago (see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/23549/donkey-kong-spooky-remix-in-retropie), i expect most of them to be also available from older FBNeo/FBAlpha romsets.

This can be closed. FYI found the answer here:

      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/21098/fbalpha-became-slow/16
      https://github.com/libretro/FBNeo/tree/master/src/burner/libretro#game-xxx-runs-slowly-why-

"Your hardware is probably too slow to run the game with normal settings. Try the following :

Check if there is a speedhack dipswitch in the core options, set it to "yes". Try setting a value for frameskip in core options. Try disabling rewind, runahead, and anything related to the savestates system in retroarch. Try lowering audio settings in the core options. If it is not enough, upgrade or overclock your hardware.

      "

The issue here is there's another rewind option in the quick menu, separate from the rewind option under the settings menu. Why exactly? I have it disabled for arcade games, but its enabled in the quick menu, over writing my option for the settings menu.

Goddam. Glad I got to the bottom of it.
