Yes, like the other have replied...we need to know which emulator you're referring to in order to answer that question. If it's one such as for the PSP or Playstation that you've copied both .bin & .cue files into the folder there will indeed be duplicate listings. I think it best you have a look at the WIKI on github for First Run Install for retropie which lists all the emulators supported.....read thru all that stuff and you'll be able to have a better understanding of what you've got.

After applying all the aforementioned updates and even some recipes combining a mix of them, I still get freezes on psx games as soon as i disconnect the usb cable and go all the way wireless. The rest of the setup seem to work fine. :/

Thanks for your advise. What I'm trying to archieve it to see the EmulationStation on my laptop screen via ethernet. I don't think that is possible. I tried a vncserver and when i connected with the viewer there was just a grey screen.

I think that's impossible too. I think you need a Desktop Environment for that. And RetroPie has none per default. You might try installin LXDE though. I instaled RetroPie on top of Raspbian and Raspbian comes w/ LXDE per default. If I were you I wouldn't invest much time in it though.

Personally, I would encourage yoU to retype it in. It'll help you understand what you're doing, which is always useful, especially if you have to troubleshoot stuff down the line!

    Hi

It can be sensitive to the correct BIOs, try getting hold of the BIOS from a different source and try that, most times that is the issue "wrong or bad Bios image"

    Cheers

It's actually really nice. Of course your experience will depend on your internet speed. Make sure to open up the correct ports.

You may want to check out romlister, this lets you easily remove clones
    https://www.waste.org/~winkles/ROMLister/

That can create a batch file that will automatically run through your roms and delete the ones you dont want.

When trouble shooting you don't want to change too much, you'll never know what the issue is. Just try another card, like I said I had the same errors with a bad card.

Not rule related but LXDE/Retropie 3.7 related.... Anyone able to get the LXDE to work from within Emulationstation after installing from the experimental menu? Mine just kicks back to ES ports menu?? Don't recall seeing any errors when it installed nor are any errors displayed when kicking back to port menu.

Haven't tried a 'reinstall' thru the experimental section but just wondering if I'm beating a dead horse and have to exit ES manually to run?

@Magnum77 Here's an exerpt from the documentation. I think you are enabling TURBO mode.

5.10 Speed Control AdvanceMAME permits a special speed control of the game play. You can play the game in a faster way, change arbitrarily the frame rate, skip the game startup process at the maximum speed, or skip the game animations pressing a key. Press `asterisk_pad' to enable the `turbo' mode. Press `minus_pad' to mark the time of the real game start. The next time the game is started, it will execute very fast until this time.

Basically, the * key on the numeric keypad is the default for turbo.

Regarding setting keys three times--this is not really the case. #1 above "User Interface" is an input area that covers the keys used for MAME functions--stuff like TURBO, and MENU navigation, FrameSkip, and such. #2 and #3 above are for controls and the difference is that #2 (General) sets the inputs for ALL GAMES, whereas #3 sets the inputs for this game only. What you can do is set the game inputs for GENERAL and when you launch another ROM, it will respect the settings you made here. Then, when necessary, you can override the GENERAL mapping using #3 (this game). Makes sense, right?

All of these settings appear in the .rc config file for the given version of advancemame.

Unfortunately your "solution" doesn't help us as we have no idea what type and rating power supply you're using and on what version of the Pi.
