    I installed Retropie 4.0 rc1 and DS4 goes a little better, it reacts fasters, but sometimes it continues pressing random buttons, so i decided to just use DS3 controllers, you have to pair it with an usb cable but it goes perfect, maybe the best controller for rasp. I think DS4 drivers have to be improved, just be patience.

    @meleu well, the original controller i use, is a custom coded teensy in a gameboy project im making
    I'm trying to set everything up, before i stick my pi zero in the case. the code i use for the gameboy custom controller, uses the d-pad as hat switch, and for some odd reason, the non lr emulators, wont detect my d-pad presses, but they will detect all my other buttons (a,b,select start). so, i decided to put that on hold, and look into the lr emulators, and started with gpsp... and thats where i came across the issue, with swapping controllers. initially, i spent days and hours, trying to get mame4all (non lr) to detect my dpad/hat switch and it wouldnt, and that mame4all runs games the fastest/smoothest for me.

    I would have 8 buttons (ABXYLR Start Select) plus joystick for each player.

    I only use libretro cores so all extra functions like quit or menu are done by hotkeys as described at:

    @rbaker Thanks. I haven't got my Pi yet but if v4 is on the way, I might grab v3 before it gets removed.

    @nazz2k said in Hotkey Issue:

    I tried to look at the config for retroarch yet everything appeared normal.

    Is this to mean that when you looked at your hotkey button assignments, they matched up to the known button codes of your controller? For example, did you compare the codes in the RetroArch config to the results of running jstest?

    I really dont want to have to reflash my entire SD card again and set everything up yet again

    One way to avoid this in the future is to make regular backups of your SD card, especially before any big changes are made. It has personally saved me from quite a few bad situations in the past. More on this can be found here if your interested.

    @BuZz So I forced 720p mode using this:
    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2984/retropie-no-longer-booting-pls-help/2

    And now I get the RetroPie boot screen, but then everything goes blank. Not sure what's going on. The monitor keeps coming on (blank screen) then detecting no input and shutting down.

    @Danik Good to know it!

    Just for curiosity: what are the names showed by the jslist tool when your various controllers are connected? Are the names differents?

    @Riverstorm I'm also trying to get a "Golden Age of Arcade vide games" box up and running. Have you managed to get Dynablasters (aka Atomic Bomberman) up and running with 4 players? I bought 4 SNES USB controllers, that I'm hoping to be using for this. Any hints on that?

    What PSU are you using ? Perhaps it's power related ? When you plug the non working one in, do you get any output in dmesg (type it in a terminal and see if it mentions the controller at the end)

    @Dusty If you haven't done any config customization, go to the File Manager, and browse to the ROMS folder. There you'll find names of all the systems, nes, n64 and so on. There you put the roms and there will also be your saves.

    Pi/roms/n64/Mario64.v64 the game
    PI/roms/n64/Mario64.srm the save

    @dabone said in Commodore VIC20 - ROMs:

    Have you tried just using the mega-cart image?

    I just use a single entry in my c64 menu.
    I then launch a image of the megacart.

    It has 99.9% of anything you want to run on the vic from a joystick driven menu.
    And it works for either pal or ntsc emulation.

    The command to launch is.

    xvic -cartmega mega-cart.rom -mcnvramwriteback -mcnvramfile mega-cart.nv

    I tried running this command while in xvic and got an out of memory error. Is this run on the rPi via ssh instead? (new to this emulator)

    If you don’t have the nv file, I just created a blank file and let the emulator fill it in.

    Create the mega-cart.nv blank file in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/c64 ?
