I've noticed audio problems with Retropie as well. I recently switched to a fresh install of 3.8.1. I haven't really thoroughly tested it but the emulator in question is PSX. I seem to be having a hard time with it mainly. For some reason only certain games load. But I was testing a game and when I exited to test another game there was no sound. I exited again and tried another game and still no sound. So I rebooted and audio was working again.

You got the error if you launch a .sh-file?
Edit es_systems.cfg with sudo nano /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg and search for the PORTS Section
There you will find <command> section
simply add bash so it looks <command>bash

It happens if you use FAT filesystems for storing games on a USB-stick

If not then check owner and permissions in roms.... owner is user pi

...fresh ROM for AstronBelt has it working better. Enemy craft shooting again, collision detect working. Only bad thing is that when the "disc" is changing scene I often get a flash of an explosion out of context for what's happening in the game. I tried deleting the DAT file and re-parsing the files but no joy. If anyone has any experience of this and fixing it, I'd appreciate any pointers.

Strangely Galaxy Ranger seems spot on.

@Parzival This could be quite easy. I have done it with basic audio amps to send music from a phone to a speaker project. Not done it with a Pi but no reason why it wouldn't work. Just buy a USB Bluetooth dongle from eBay for less than £5 and plug a jack lead from the pi to the USB dongle. It can now pair so the audio out from the jack can be transmitted. Use a spare USB socket for a power source for the dongle.

I wouldn't use Mario all stars as your test - it has a very specific issue that might be making you think you have a wide problem: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/FAQ#does-super-mario-all-stars-work

Just an update in case anybody was watching this (the original) post - I've finally published the guide... I hope that you find it helpful - please feel free to ask me any questions (as I've not had time to polish it quite as much as I'd like)

Details are on the forum post here:

    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2394/how-to-guide-recording-live-gameplay-in-retropie-s-retroarch-emulators-natively-on-the-raspberry-pi-and-twitch-streaming

A direct link to the guide is here:

Please remove my account, reading back I see that some of my points/comments are totaly ignored.

People only respond to specific red flags and ignore the rest of my posts (see several examples above). I've just seen that I've been downvoted by the fanboys (who can't even lace their own binary shoes) for just pointing out a flaw in the handling of updating/upgrading KODI.

BuZz reply didn't go to well with me, it seems he isn't to bothered to reply to me or even read my posts correctly. I've done my part but I can't be bothered anymore.

I might just remove RetroPie and setup my own system the way I like it. It isn't that complicated, anybody with a couple of brain cells can do it and it's more rewarding!

So, pretty please remove my account.

@Riverstorm did you ever manage to get your ipac configured? I see the Ipac not configured message every time a rom starts but it works because I plugged a keyboard in and configured it once before plugging in the ipac.

I didn't have to do much config really. I don't have it in front of me right now but all I did was the following.

Update the setup script to get the additional bluetooth config options (you might not have to do this since you're on v4) Pair them through the bluetooth config tool Use the built in "Configure Input" tool to map the buttons Step 2 here retropie wiki except I used the string "8Bitdo SNES30 GamePad Joystick" instead of SFC I changed the bluetooth connect mode to background instead of once on boot (in the bluetooth config tool) so that I can turn them on/off whenever and have them reconnect

@Exmix is your Pi overclocked at all? If so, I'd start by commenting out all the overclock entries in /boot/config.txt in case this is a general system instability. I'd also check that the SD card is well-seated in the socket.
