@SenorDeCameros said in Some MAME ROMs don´t works. I send log file wirh verbose logging:

which I suppose is the correct one

Not exactly, the recommended one is to choose an emulator then pick the romsets for it, not the other way around. The reason for this is that testing each romsets with each emulators is time-consuming and might force you into using emulators you should probably avoid (decades-old emulators full of bugs and/or missing some nice features).

@wec777 Try running sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade before installing RetroPie again. Your problem looks similar to this issue, which seems to be a timing issue in the update list.
RetroPie doesn't install any repositories, it uses the ones provided by your Linux distribution.

Re: Problems running PC Engine/Turbo-CD games even with BIOS
I realize this is 3 years after this post; but if anyone is still struggling to make CD games work, after trying again and again and downloading the syscard3.pce file from different sources, even though MD5 matched on all, just in case some were corrupt...I finally got it to work by placing the syscard3.pce file in the ROMS folder instead of BIOS. Then, in Emulationstation, I clicked on syscard3.pce, which shows up like a game, and it opened the CD interface. Clicked start, and it began gyrating but didn't fully open. Pressed select and start on my controller to back out and THEN was able to play CD games!

BTW, don't know if this fix will work for emu running on Raspberry Pi. I didn't have issues playing CD games on my Pi 3. But this was the only way I could play PC Engine CD games running Retropie with my Linux Mint x86_64 computer.

The .bin file is not editable in a text editor, the .cue is. Looks like the .cue is valid, check if the filename of the .bin is _exactly Final Fantasy VII [NTSC-U] [Disc1of3] [SCUS-94163].BIN.
Remember that Linux is case sensitive so
Final Fantasy VII [NTSC-U] [Disc1of3] [SCUS-94163].bin is not the same as Final Fantasy VII [NTSC-U] [Disc1of3] [SCUS-94163].BIN.

If it's not a name mismatch, then try posting the whole log file (with verbose logging turned on) on pastebin.com to take a look.

@matchaman There is a command line option for that:

-missing file The file where information about ROMs that weren't scraped is added.

The script that runs the scraper from the setup menu is located at /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary/scraper.sh. It doesn't contain any -missing parameter, so I assume this option isn't used by it.

Nevertheless, adding the line params+=(-missing "/home/pi/missing.txt") right after line 76 (local params=()) should add a parameter that writes all missed roms into the file missing.txt in RetroPie's home directory.

I just tested this with my Atari 2600 collection and all roms with missing hashes were written into the missing.txt. Thanks for inspiring me to do this, I've been planning it for weeks. :)

I found that to use neo-geo from the fba core I had to put the "neogeo.zip" inside the roms folder not the BIOS folder as one would assume.

and rbaker is correct you may have a bios problem...best thing to do is to use the Final Burn Alpha emulator itself..not the core or the one for the pi...the "raw"one from the FBAlpha website...make sure to get the correct version.

Look here to see what version of the emulator you are using (0.2.96.71 or 0.2.97.30 or v0.2.97.42)
      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/FinalBurn-Alpha

Yeah this is "the hard way" but..the full FBA emulator will give you information you might need to make sure you have what you you need. i.e. name(s) size(s) and correct CRC. BIOSes are a pain in the butt....but that is how it is.
Then you can drop that onto your pi and it should work.

Try dropping it into your folder with your roms first though..or leave a copy in your BIOS folder and have copy in your roms folder..doesn't hurt.

Update: Ok, Now i am all kinds of confused. I decided to make sure everything I have is up to date, after seeing in threads that ES was updated over the weekend. so I re-updated everything from source. Unfortunately this has changed the outcomes of my symptoms above. Now, after updating from source, the carbon theme as updated through ES themes update will run both the videos and images in a single system, this is great as it allows for some games in the games list to not have video and instead shows the image. The carbon theme does have the <supported feature= "video". The problem is that now carbon throws the same errors as my new theme does. My theme still has my video view as a standard view and not a feature, per above. Now both themes function the same. Both allow video and images in the same system, and both throw out the could not find file error. In both cases i have videos and images running along with all my meta data for each game in each system. Anyone else have the updated carbon and getting these errors in the es log? Thanks

I have isolated the issue, while it generates an error code, I am not sure that it is really causing any issues except populating the log. In my theme i do not use the <feature supported="video"> to include video into my theme. Instead I simply create view named <view name="md_video"> similar to any image view. What this has allowed me to do is have the video show if a video is present in the games list, and an image show if no video is available. When i put the "Feature" into the theme, I no longer get an image if a video is not present. I get a black screen, or i can point to a single file as a <default>file.mpv</default> I tested this theory on the recently updated carbon theme and replicated the exact same results. I am going to start a new thread in the themes topic to see if there are any thoughts on this, now that i don't actually have an issue that needs resolved here. Thanks

@Dochartaigh disconnect your Xbox controller and you'll see it doesn't crash. Either you have to manually sort your configs or wait til kodi 17 is included as it doesn't have the janky controller issues.
