Here's an idea, would not assigning any buttons to the d1 or d2 pads and purely using the joystick as the Analog controls work for the riencast and still be able to move around the other emulators and menus?

Support isn't offered to third party images here for a number of reasons. Your best bet is to either seek support from the person who put it together, reinstall a fresh image from this site, or read through the documentation for a solution.
