      Using this product: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRK4YB4C?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Uses the PCIe Ribbon connection available on the Pi5 and some of the pins from the I/O header.

@when_suddenly said in PiGRRL Zero troubleshooting adding roms:

The problem is none of the emulators show up on boot. I looked at another form for this issue and apparently they had their "Parse Gameslists only" option set to on... however I cannot even access that option in the emulation station main menu. The "other settings" tab is completely missing.

That means you're using a very old EmulationStation (and possibly RetroPie) version. Emulators not showing up on boot means also that they're not installed. Looking at the date of the installation document, it's from 2016, so it looks like they're using an old image.

Use the image from retropie.org.uk/download and we can provide support, otherwise ask the provider of the image for help.

@jason ES backgrounds itself during game launch and disables the video output during this time.

@dankcushions, this is what I'm currently working on. I'll use the documentation Quicksilver mentioned to rebuild the old systems I want to transfer.

      Try running

      sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh

at the prompt or through SSH and then update all packages and see if that puts it back.

@markwkidd thanks for your updates, one of these days I'd like to delve into romlister to filter out game types. I know floob had done some in the past but for the few people who filter Mame rom lists might be a useful tool.

@publicENEMY There was a test build that let you select multiple entries with Ctrl-A, Ctrl-Click, and Shift-Click, but alas, the download link doesn't work anymore.

@markwkidd Maybe you could put it up again somewhere? I'm still using it and I find its selection controls very convenient. Alternatively, I could host it in my own Github repo with your permission. At the moment, only my local storage and its backups prevent this version from vanishing into oblivion …

(Oh, I just noticed that I already asked you this nine months ago. I don't want to bug you, just tell me to shut up about it and I will. 🤐 )

edit: According to his profile, markwkidds last login happened in May, 2019. So maybe we lost him entirely. 😟
