Can't wait to see it finished.

Haha, trust me. I can't either. It's quite a lot of work and "figuring out"

Cool idea. Love all the classic Lucasfilm/Lucasarts adventure games and for me Maniac Mansion was the first one that got me into adventure gaming so this is an instalike from me :)

@Roxsteady Amazing. I noticed it's 55 seconds though. Is there a way to skip the intro video if emustation is already finished booting up?

      @herb_fargus Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, coming from a MS DOS/MS Windows background I'm certainly not a linux expert so I'm constantly being surprised at the small nuances here and there. I suspect formatting as EXT2/3/4 would help, but that would defeat my purpose of then having it easily readable/accessible on my desktop (which is non-Linux). :)

I did hack away with OSX Fuse this morning to read a EXT4 partition from a previous backup of mine on a Macbook (it seems the retroarch update must have either removed the previous shader folders I had, or changed their locations, so I'm going to copy them back).

I had mounted this manually from back in 3.6/3.7, and it has always worked perfectly asides from these chown errors which I take are par for the course using FAT32 in the current set up :)

No big deal anyway, it's always fun. Thanks everyone!

@batesman the list file is if you want a custom set of choices. You can manually specify which images you want it pull instead of the whole folder

@MacEns Try going into /boot/config.txt and remove the hash symbol at the start of config_hdmi_boost=4. This will increase the HDMI signal. Or swap out the cable. If it is displaying on and off and your TV is giving you that warning I would say that is your issue. This value can also be changed up or down.

@jonnykesh said in Boot Script ordering for USB Mount and SplashScreen:

@hooperre Have you considered turning the custom splash screen into a static video file? say 5 or ten seconds, whatever you feel is best.
You say videos on the USB work fine so just turn the static image into a video file.

Truth. Good shout. I'll probably just put them on the SD card unless I can dig into the splashscreen stuff and find out how to have it start later? Not sure. I know using Filezilla if I attempt to change permissions it doesn't work and I can't add them, but I know I can do it with Putty (chmod) it works. That's the only reason I preferred to stay on the USB.

They need to be downloaded. Go into RetroPie Setup Option in the GUI. Choose Config / tools. Scroll down to 827 - splashscreen. Choose 8. Then 9. Then choose any splashscreen you want...

@SeTzX You have not described what process you followed. You sure you have a Pi with built in wifi? You went to retropie setup and connected to the access point using your network ssid and password? got the ip of the Pi? using winscp or putty? Also you can just browse the relevant folders on a pic without ssh if you want, they appear in the network tab. In most cases you have to look it up via IP address...

On Windows though, go to My Computer then click map network drive, then click browse and click on the Retropie folder to map...

If it doesn't show up then you may have a firewall issue...

To find the IP address you can either check your router interface or go to WiFi settings on the Retropie menu.

Out of curiosity what is your beautiful boot video?

a modiefied version of this, with sfx and BGM

@markyh444 said in Splashcreen video and boot texts:

@DuckSalmon It depends on the boot process too, and if you've got devices connected. Try it with no peripherals attached, and see if one of them is slowing it down.

      thanks for the info
      now is pretty good
