@jdrassa This method seems to work great if the UI modes are not in use but if it's set into Kiosk mode the es_settings.cfg reverts to an unmodified state after reboot. Does enabling the Kiosk mode overwrite the es_settings.cfg file? If so can I modify the Kiosk mode to include the splash screen setting?

@Freakadude Thanks for the feedback but I didn't make the shorter version of the song. I got the shorter version from some youtuber but the visuals I did make so I can't really do anything about the song transition. Sorry.

Cool idea. Love all the classic Lucasfilm/Lucasarts adventure games and for me Maniac Mansion was the first one that got me into adventure gaming so this is an instalike from me :)

@mikeh1982 Transferring the ROMs via USB is done automatically so there is no need to look at the directories, you don't need to manually move anything. If you use samba share over the network then the 4 directories are automatically shared to allow you to edit, transfer, delete, manage etc... Just as a tip, you can add extra folders / directories to be shared over the network. If you go to /etc/samba and open smb.conf you can add entries, eg

[home] comment = home path = "/home/pi" writeable = yes guest ok = yes create mask = 0644 directory mask = 0755 force user = pi

Or add any other path you want to access...

Hmm. I followed your advice and copied the video-splashscreen over to /home/pi/splashscreens and changed the line in /etc/splashscreen.list accordingly. Strangely this doesn't work, the splashscreens never appears.

I even double- and triple-checked the paths and tried different folders, but the splashscreen won't show up.

Edit:

Just got it to work. After copying it over to /opt/retropie/supplementary/splashscreen/ to the default splashscreens and selecting it it works like a charm!

@skoufix Thanks, the fixes above did not work for me but yours did. I'm glad to finally get rid of the startup glitch.
