@oleguer The CEA video modes you're referring to are set via tvservice, which doesn't work correctly on the Pi4 so those set of video modes are not available. The runcommand launch menu shows the resolutions that your TV reports it supports - that's what is offered for the video mode change.

You can set still a custom resolution via config.txt (see https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/hdmi-config.md) if you wish to use a video mode not reported by your TV.

@buzz Yup, I stand corrected. I think it is the NOOB image that it was installed on by default. or maybe something else I downloaded.

Hi all, sorry for dragging up an old thread. Has anyone got this to work on the latest Retropie image (4.7.1)? I had it installed on an old 4.4 image working absolutely fine, thought I would update to latest image 4.7.1 followed all the same steps (actually copied what was written in the old image that worked) in relation to detecting hdmi. But I can’t get it to work in 4.7.1, it always defaults into hdmi and cannot get itself back into lcd when you don’t have an hdmi cable installed. I often see ‘Unk-Comp-Dev’ in the text when booting rather than ‘[E] No Device Present]. Wondering if the updated Retropie version somehow recognizes the LCD screen differently which is preventing this script from working? It seems to always boot into hdmi like it always thinks something is plugged in when it’s not.

Any help to get it working would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

Ok found a solution in another thread no longer need a script to do what I need just a simple addition to the config.txt file, all sorted! Thanks!

    NTFS is no good.

@sleve_mcdichael xrandr only works when X is running, so the setting won't persist in a pure commandline/framebuffer environment, like retropie on the pi. as soon as you exit the desktop, everything is back to how it was, as far as i'm aware.

you can attempt to run retropie within X, of course, but that's not a supported configuration. however it's probably the path of least resistance for non-standard display setups (rotated, CRT, etc), as xrandr is so powerful...

@mitu I'm having this same issue.

I've ran sudo ufw disable to disable my linux firewall.

I'm thinking that the issue is with my OPNSENSE router.

Which ports should I forward to my retropie server?

@theretroprince said in Using Analog Sticks for 8-Bit Stuff?:

@alphabetapie You will not want to enable this for systems where the analog and digital controls are independent. For example, on PSP and N64 the control pad and analog joysticks on the actual systems are not interchangeable. (Analog joystick controls are separate from digital joystick controls and provide different inputs)

Enabling this option for these types of controllers/systems would cause dual input problems.

    Good point.

but would love if someone could mention to them that kiosk mode with favorites disable is a great idea and should be reimplemented in the future.

Agree. Perhaps a flag that could be set while in Full mode, which would toggle Favorites functionality in Kiosk? So it could still be available for those who want it, but could be disabled if you want to leave it with the knuckleheads for an afternoon.

I'll be glad to suggest it or put a request in, if you can provide a link to where I can do so.

Also, anyone have any ideas on if the Y button icon in the help menu at the bottom of the screen is editable (and if so, where)?

@jamrom2 said in Why does my 8bitdo and PS3 controllers randomly move?:

so if a ghost input is +.02 volts... and an actual press gives + 1.2 volts... you would set the null to ignore anything under +1.0 volts. Effectively ignoring the ghost input.

It doesn't work like that. There is no method to know how much 'volts' trigger the input, in order to ignore it or not.

Hi guys. I’m new to the forum and stumbled across this post. I know it’s old but I’ve got this exact same problem.

I have the nes30 pro. The lag is unplayable. Sometimes it works fine then sometimes it just does it’s own thing and wanders off. I’m using an 8bitdo Bluetooth dongle since the built in Bluetooth on the pi4 was impossible to get working with this... and also I have a nes30 controller too which was totally impossible to sync up with Bluetooth.

The nes30 controller however works fantastic with the 8bitdo dongle... but the nes30pro just does not work good at all.

Both controllers have had the firmware updated also.

I’m stumped how the nes30 works great yet the nes30pro is really bad. I’ve disabled the onboard Bluetooth on the pi4 in case it was interference of some sort?

Anyone had this problem and got around it? These controllers aren’t cheap either which is more annoying as I’d like I to work.

    Thanks.

@muldjord said in Skyscraper two ways: games beginning with "The", and config.ini settings not working:

The cache saving issue I believe to be a problem on your end. As mentioned I haven't touched that code, and it works fine here.

I believe the cache-saving error was closely related to the video-conversion error. The resource that couldn't be saved to the cache was the video that didn't get converted/copied. I only saw them together, and only in 3.6.8. Neither were present in 3.6.7, nor after today's 3.6.9 update, thank you!

The player pilots a plane dubbed the "Super Ace" (its appearance is that of a Lockheed P-38 Lightning) and has to shoot down waves of enemy planes while avoiding incoming enemy fire. The 'Super Ace' can perform a limited number of rolls or 'loop-the-loops' to evade enemy planes and shots. During the game, waves of red enemy planes periodically appear. If the player manages to destroy a red wave, a power-up, in the form of a 'POW' symbol, will be dropped and can be picked up. Lagging problem fixed. I did as above but no change. I looked around in the retrorarch menu of the game. (Hot Key+X)

Settings-Video options. There was a setting for Vertical Refresh, and default was 60hz. It said that would be ignored unless video Threading was on. I turned on Threading and it fixed the lagging issue with no other ill effects thus far.

MITU you were a very big help on this and I really appreciate the time you spent to help me. Thank You
