It's only detecting analog. No d-pad inputs at all on the PS3 type USB controller either.
Snes has no analog, so it won't detect anything but the shoulder buttons and abxy

It was a recent discovery for me too even though it's been around a while. It's a great feature if you have kids as they seem flip between emulator lists and get really confused about what's happening.

unbelivable strange - with the blue Adapter - it's received by today - the Controllers working quite well :) :(
Same setup and configuration .... I don't know what is wrong with the other adapter because with win7 it's working ...

I am using a new fresh image - I did for both 3.8.1 (then updated to 4.0.*) and also same for 3.6
Also no PS3 controller installed (fresh image). I did try it originally with sixad installed then removed, wouldnt scan so I went with fresh build.

First thing i did was as you mentioned - add BT device via retropie script then udev button in script.
Nothing more and test > only works in ES.
Once that failed I moved onto next steps like changing config files etc. Always one change at a time.
Also did try udev to sdl.

I will try again this evening

SOLVED:
Fresh install 3.8.1
Updated retropie script
Start+R on controller (2.67)
Scan for BT
Connected
Added UDEV rule (in script)
Mapping hack = ON

All worked!

As you are using 4.0 make sure you have installed the ColecoVision emulator:

How come it's only the triggers/shoulders that didn't work...?

Also, why does it register as 6, 7, 8 and 9 and then not even register those lines to the cfg file?
