    Understood. I'll take another look at the overlays or doing a fresh install and copying ROMs into place.

    As I expected, the overlays works properly at 1080p, so if others are having overlay obscuring part of the screen using a lesser resolution (4:3 in particular), 1080p is one way to fix it. ;-)

    Wow... Thank you. For anyone curious, this worked. Updating Rasbian tools packages provided new firmware needed for the image to boot on my Raspberry Pi3....

    Thanks BuZz!

    I also must say, that I like the new retropie setup script. With it, I was able to update the base install, then seperately update the underlying OS and Firmware.

    Whats really great is that I am now on the 4.0beta, and my Xbox360 Wireless controllers still work perfectly (which they did not when I attempted a fresh install of 3.81)

    Seems the new retropie setup script seperated the installation of underlying OS from the base install, while keeping driver updates seperate as well (giving you better choice of what gets installed)

    Cool beans.

    There was a bug with the RPi 3 bluetooth but it was fixed in kernel 4.4 and RetroPie 3.8. Apart from that I am not aware of bugs with Playstation controllers. If you are still experiencing problems, post your Kodi log and the output of dmesg.

    It didn't like something. I no longer use save on exit and just save new configs and edit the files if needed.

    You can use the configuration editor from the RetroPie menu to adjust most common RetroArch settings.

    I had that issue early on before I learned to manually edit files. Not sure if I just missed something easy back then or what. In the end, once I learned to manually edit, it was easier to understand the underlying fie structure and how things worked. Now, it's second nature to make changes either via the files or the retroarch configs within ES.

    Great reminder that you can edit stuff within the menus (I'm just oldschool, so SSH is comfortable).

    @BuZz, @username97
    A little late to the party here, but in case it helps anyone else, I've written a comprehensive guide to installing RetroPie manually on top of Raspbian, including the changes introduced in the new, far more flexible, version 4 Retropie-setup script:

    It doesn't say packets. It says "Packages" - which is a pretty common term.

    you can save every time you exit - it's a retroarch/libretro function. however there is currently an outstanding issue with it: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/3049

    @BuZz Thank you very much, worked very well. Note that I did the binary update right after a clean SD install

    You could try setting up your wifi from the command line and reboot your RPi. https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/wireless/wireless-cli.md
