I dont have any idea anymore atm.

Just to test i wrote a Fresh 4.7.1 image, installed only lr-MAME2010 & lr-MAME2016, put in validated 0.139 STV-Roms and BIOS (both running on a Pi3 with AdvanceMAME), did not change anything in the settings, all default,...system freezes :/

What i dont understand: why does it seem that i am the only one?
Or is noone interested in STV? Dudes, that is the Arcade-Spin-Off of SEGAs Saturn, it is good! :)

It is not that i am expecting that they are really playable, even on a Pi4.
But that they lead to a Freeze of the System makes me mad :/
With this Status i would have to delete them, i dont want anything freezing my system onboard.

@Rodc hi, to clarify i don't doubt there is a software issue running it in 2010 on ARM, rather than a retropie settings issue, and the log reflects that. i don't want to get involved in MAME development anymore but you could log the issue here: https://github.com/libretro/mame2010-libretro/issues

Actually, with Retopie 4.7.1 lr-mame2010 TAB menu, input general/this game is OK.

But... on one of my RPI4, Retropie 4.7.1, i don't see, in lr-mame2003 TAB menu, the inpur general/this game. I see only dip switch, analog controls etc.

    What have I done? :-o

There is an option to disable/enable them from retroarch?

    EDIT: Solved! retroarch>quick menu>options>Legacy remapping (!NETPLAY) on/off

    @alturis

    Hi,

I just tested this and by default with lr-mame2010 you have to place the samples directory in the /home/pi directory, eg.
    /home/pi/samples

I just put some samples in there and it works (tested mario and zaxxon).

See here for an explanation of the paths and a workaround which improves things somewhat until the paths are sorted within the core:
    https://github.com/libretro/mame2010-libretro/issues/14

You'll also notice the mame.ini is ignored until it's copied to the /home/pi directory

If you follow the advice by raelgc by copying mame.ini to the pi directory and then editing the file to point the other folders elsewhere (such as cfg, etc), you would likely end up with a mame.ini in the home/pi directory, and then you can at least tell it to put all the other folders somewhere else, perhaps trying to match up with what mame2003 does.

The paths are a mess in the core right now it seems, I can understand why as 2010 isn't really targeted for Pi users and maybe needs a bit of tweaking to sort the paths out. I am using both Pi and an x86 build so I have a use case for 2010.

    Cheers

I'd like to know if the function is available: " HISCORE save function " in a rom set newer than, mame2003

it's good for me understand if i add ADV-MAME 1.4:
    if i put hi-score.dat in
    /roms/mame-advmame/hi
    it will works in retropie?

    thanks in advance.

@Melvin.FoX exactly as @herb_fargus said. you asked about the possibility - what other answer is other than what i gave? it's possible. it's open source. that experimental core is so barren of basic features that it can't see why anyone would work on it, like i said previously. we do get a lot of people asking for this feature and that feature - my to do list is long enough with just the things i want!

just because i'm a moderator doesn't mean i represent the retropie project. i just delete the occasional spam post because i'm always on here :)

Note - please see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first and format your posts with markdown (logs / configs in code blocks please).

you should also provide details of things like retropie version / and platform when posting.
