@Roxsteady Amazing. I noticed it's 55 seconds though. Is there a way to skip the intro video if emustation is already finished booting up?

I was wondering, if there is anyway of disabling the bootberry auto boot menu GUI? Not the menu it's self, but just the GUI. So I will still see the background, and if I hit enter, an OS will load.

I haven't tried from a usb but hopefully those posts will give you something to play with. interesting the overscan thing fixed it. I guess I've always had it disabled so I never noticed.

If its working for you then I don't see why there is any problem with your implementation.

Thanks for the reply. The first link you provided offered a decent solution. It seems the trouble is in randomizing from the USB. When running a single video it has never failed, but it just wouldn't work with the randomizer.

That said, following the advice in the article I moved my videos to the /opt/retropie/supplementary/splashscreen/ folder and deleted the default splashscreens I don't want and everything seems to be in order.

On usb the folder is named splashscreens. I will eliminate the plural as a test but doubt that is the issue because the folder is displayed as a selection and appears correct. The good news is I don't plan on changing the splashscreens too frequently so this solution will work for now.

Thanks again! I hope this thread helps someone else.

@batesman the list file is if you want a custom set of choices. You can manually specify which images you want it pull instead of the whole folder

      Hello all,

      @meleu

      I am on retropie 4.8 and a pi 4.

Can I get some guidance on getting the subject working?

The package is talked about here on the retropie docs:

      https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/

"Manage packages" >> "Manage experimental packages" >> "launchingimages" >> "Install from binary"

For whatever reason, the images created from this package are not filling up the whole screen even though the retropie menus and all game emulators do. It's like the package is not creating the proper size images and I really don't have a good idea how to fix it. Below is an example of what my run command screen looks like. Thank you all for any guidance you can give on fixing this.

@jonnykesh said in Boot Script ordering for USB Mount and SplashScreen:

@hooperre Have you considered turning the custom splash screen into a static video file? say 5 or ten seconds, whatever you feel is best.
You say videos on the USB work fine so just turn the static image into a video file.

Truth. Good shout. I'll probably just put them on the SD card unless I can dig into the splashscreen stuff and find out how to have it start later? Not sure. I know using Filezilla if I attempt to change permissions it doesn't work and I can't add them, but I know I can do it with Putty (chmod) it works. That's the only reason I preferred to stay on the USB.

@roquen See the link below for instructions on how to hide the boot text, which should get you closer to your desired end result.

They need to be downloaded. Go into RetroPie Setup Option in the GUI. Choose Config / tools. Scroll down to 827 - splashscreen. Choose 8. Then 9. Then choose any splashscreen you want...
