@tompacyk said in Lists filtered to favorites by default:

Follow up thought: I get that the filters aren’t preserved, but is there a file or flag that is set somewhere once I toggle a filter? Could I (theoretically) write a startup script that populates this after each boot?

No, there is no flag - otherwise it would have been easy to re-add the filter between EmulationStation restarts.
Only the Kid and Hidden are flags (they're saved) and can be used to simulate a 'reduced display' mode, as @pjft suggested. Hidden games are not shown in Kiosk mode, and Kid mode shows only the games tagged as Kid game.

@blueagent said in USB gamepad works with all emulators except Reicast:

the full core information displayed should be "1.7.6 Reicast r0.19XXXXXXXX", so i'm 100% sure that it said reicast and not retroarch.

First is the RetroArch version, then it's the name of the core (reicast) and its version. RetroPie also includes the same version of RetroArch, but the core name has been renamed upstream since the Lakka release you are using, in RetroPie it's lr-flycast.

The answer to your question is 'No', there's no build for N2 coming soon. As far as I know there's just a pull request opened for adding support, but it seems incomplete.

    Hi there,

So I left my Raspberry Pi alone for a month and when I came back to it I started fresh. I think the problem was with my HDD.

So I think my HDD was previously formatted to exFAT file system. The only options I had were NTFS and exFAT. I found this person on youtube called Eta Prime and his videos were a big help, especially this one:

It explains how to format your drive to FAT32

I flashed the image to the SD again and formatted my HDD to FAT32 and added the "retropie-mount" folder as shown in the video.

Then I searched some more videos on his channel of which bios were needed for the different emulators and how to add the games.

I found out how to "unECM" the ECM files from my PlayStation games and I'd say at the moment about 90% of the games work and I can save using the save state feature + via the in-game save mechanics.

The emulators I have used up to this point are: GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SNES, N64, Megadrive and PS1.

So yes, I'd say the problems are now solved. Maybe one more thing I'd like to try is activating my RetroAchievements account so I can earn achievements on some of the games. I got it to work previously, but I don't know how anymore because it's been over a month ago.

Big shout out to Eta Prime. Check his channel here:

@E3L1 Not really, the packages you mention are alive and well on Raspbian Buster and that's not the reason RetroPie doesn't support yet fully the PI4.
Care to share a reference to the quote you posted ?

I tested the instructions from the Docs and they seem to work - I started the 'Duke it out in DC' add-on. Make sure you have the full registered game and not the shareware version installed.

@melbmatt50 I've only ever used mame with an all-sega image I built a couple months ago and used retroflag's wired megadrive controller, so no analogs but it worked fine, though I never tested the mame stuff out on analog controllers.

Do you have the same problem with other mame cores?

    @SpudsMcToole
Just out of curiosity, which es_systems.cfg do you edit?

I always copy the original to /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation and edit it there where it won't get reverted when running updates. Only thing is it also has to be manually updated/synced if additional systems are added as they won't show on the system list if not listed in the customized es_systems.cfg (I'll normally copy-paste from the original file to the copy once the new system is installed). It just saves some of the headache for the future if you have a custom system order you like and don't want to redo it after updating.

    @greddy1

there is no indication of wheter it is in either mode anywhere, you will only see when configuring the joystick that the direction will show as either an axis or pov switch.

the mode switch is on the encoder and you will need to connect a physical button to switch between them, however it will remember which mode it is set to after a shutdown.

Yup, that did it. Those changes were made and I ran the updater and things look closer to how they used to.

    Thanks.

@mitu I'm using 4.4. I have not reset config from the retroarch gui. Controls work fine in the retroarch menu as well. This problem has had me stumped for awhile.

I had a PR ready, but forgot to submit it - https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/2831.

Ha! That's what I'm confused about :) I'd a look at the repo a few hours ago and thought "damn old, doesn't compile, fix needed", but now it's pull'ed and up to date. Thanks for that. But I loved waking you up :)

@Razak said in Start retropie and start with the same game:

But, the aspect ratio is wrong and I'm unable to disable the auto-run function.

Depending on your emulator, you might have to configure that first, by running the ROM from Emulationstation and configuring the video aspect/pixel stretching in the emulator.

F4 on the keyboard is not halting the function. Is there another way to get back to the emulationstation configuration menu?

F4 only works in Emulationstation. While you're in an emulator, it depends on the emulator - if you have a gamepad try Select + Start or Esc if you're on a keyboard.

@Erdrick said in Unable to Configure Controller:

My hunch is since I configured it for a keyboard and nothing else, he needs a keyboard to select input configuration and it should work from there.

If you configured a keyboard as controller in ES, I think the initial controller configuration screen would not show

If that's the case - and he gets the normal ES system carousel - then he'll not be able to configure the controller on 1st boot. He would, indeed, need a keyboard.
