    Thank you :)
    I didn't think it would be that simple. Now onto the rest of it.

    Just to say I haven't had any issues on my rPi3 with this. Seems odd!

    @caver01

    Okay I'm tracking now, I did this for apple2. It sounds like I'm not necessarily updating RetroPie, just the emulator, that I can do I think, I'll give it a shot.

    Thanks again.

    I had a similar problem with the PS4 controller. I did update to the last version of retropie and it stopped working properly. I have re-installed v3.8.1 and now it works properly except with Sega Genesis/Megadrive games.

    This is because the filesystem on your USB stick doesn't support some unix file permissions such as the executable flag.

    However I have worked around this in the latest RetroPie-Setup so if you update the script, and update all install packages it should work.

    Did you see a noticeable improvement in the upgrade? I am getting ready to build my own system and have a Pi 2 sitting around. Was wondering if I should just go ahead and buy a 3.

    @Sankea

    I looked at this when you first posted and while I couldn't find any anecdotal information regarding game controllers, there are an overwhelming amount of negative reviews related to just about any other use you can think of. If these devices were cheaper, I'd personally take a chance one to try for myself, but the price tag is too high for such bad word of mouth. Maybe someone will report in here with a particular model that can be trusted.

    Hi there

    I have also a PS3 controller although connected via cable. I would also like to use snes9x or pisnes. snes9x and pisnes have smoother grafic. They add some image processing or something.
    I am aware that they need manual configuraiton of the controller, but i don't get it running.

    I added the snes9x.cfg file to /opt/retropie/configs/snes and rebooted. In pisnes I have no control at all, not even keyboard is working, I cant even use the escape key. With snes9x I have keyboard control but no game controllerer. I don't know where the keyboard mapping is comming from for snes9x.

    Here my config file:
    --cut--
    [Joystick]
    #Get codes from "jstest /dev/input/js0"
    #from package "joystick"
    A_1=13
    B_1=14
    X_1=12
    Y_1=15
    L_1=10
    R_1=11
    START_1=3
    SELECT_1=0
    #Joystick axis
    #JA_LR=0
    #JA_UD=1
    #Joystick DPAD buttons
    LEFT_1=7
    RIGHT_1=5
    UP_1=4
    DOWN_1=6
    --cut--

    File permissions should be good:
    pi@retropie:/opt/retropie/configs/snes $ ls -lath snes9x.cfg
    -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 417 Aug 7 13:00 snes9x.cfg

    Here some details:
    Pi Model: 3 B
    RetroPie Version Used: 4.0
    Built From: Binary (commit 1dd72a6cbd17359b6ceb297f5e1b93dd693118a2)
    USB Devices connected: Keyboard, PS3 Controller
    Controller used: PS3 Controller
    Error messages received: no error message
    Guide used: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Super-Nintendo-Entertainment-System
    Emulator: (snes9x, pisnes)

    Thanks for you help!

    Best regards, Bruceundefined

    figured it out, the assets for retroarch were in ~/.config/retropie/assets rather than in /opt/retropie/assets, copied em over and it's all good.

    You are 100% right. It's not possible to own a 1 or 2 TB SD-card for a few bucks now (in 2016!).

    @RetroTime
    Consider to use a seperate storage for your roms. A small SD card (4GB are more then enough!) only for the system is a great choice. Read the wiki to mount a USB device to store ROMS on it. You can even use a system link (like a desktop shortcut Windows uses) to point to your external device. Just use the internal search....
