Oh... one thing that could go wrong with the symbolic link method.
If you insert two USB devices at the same time then the naming could get wrong. Means that /mount/usb0 is not always Device 1
and /mount/usb1 is not always Device 2. They can change, so working with fstab and giving the devices their unique numbering is better. But the symlink is imho the fastest way ...
need to say: it is not supported by official intructions!!

The bash myscript.sh is working for ES because it is setted in es_systems.cfg since RetroPie 4.0

@wcarvalho said in Newest RetroPie Version Does Not Work With EazyHax Toolkit Expand to External NTFS Drive Script (Compiled from Source & Official 4.3 Image):

I also had the same problem, these scripts simply do not work on the new image (4.3). But I found a solution is not one of the simplest but solves it. I have downloaded an old version of the retropie (4.2), I make the whole installation, active the use of external hard drive, and update the system to version 4.3, so I can continue using my games through HD

      Clever solution :-)
My pi blew up some time back....the 4R7 inductor broke and it would no longer boot up. With Hurricane Harvey (I live in Houston) all of my side projects went to the wayside. I just finally got around to fixing it (made a video) yesterday and now am discovering a lot of changes to the new version of retropie broke some of the more complex tools in the toolkit. I'll get them all sorted asap...as well as deploy some new ones.
I have fixed the Expand to external drive thus far....still finding changes to the backend...still testing.
      Thanks for your support!

I don't know how I feel about having wiki links, just the other day some stupid person spammed up one page we had to revert

Good point. Let's stick with it as it is. Thanks for your hardwork.

      Check here:
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/7780/loading-roms-from-usb-harddrive

      UUID info here:
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/4768/run-roms-from-usb-flash-drive-instead-of-microsd-card-manual/5

And there's so more info here (more for flash drives than HDDs):

@herb_fargus As posted above, I had tried both the automatic and manual methods with neither of them working. I managed to get it sorted out now though because it seemed like there was a permissions issue that would not allow me to run the RetroPie script from the USB pen from within OSMC.

I ended up keeping all data and scripts on the SD card and mounting the roms folder to the USB drive and having it work that way.

You might also try PeaZip. It's built around 7-zip with better GUI and more compression formats supported.

still, my point stands. you should have more justification than just 'use my guide instead' on every thread where someone talks about mounting USBs. i don't see how your method makes any difference to OP.
