I don't know? RetroPie guys prefer to work with official releases, even for experimental, so we may have to wait for YQ2 version 8.50.
@BuZz, @mitu, would you accept a PR pointing to a specific commit, as a temporary thing, waiting for the next big release?
It's just to make this project visible, and it's not like numbered releases are a guarantee for stability.

This has been updated, and now includes Flick Stick control mode:

You must select it in the "options" menu -> "gamepad" -> "sticks config" -> "layout" option.
Southpaw variant available, just like the rest of the layouts.
Just wanted to post, because it's probably the first game with this control method available in a Pi. Works with no issues in a RPi3B+.

I heard someone saying the same, so I would like to try this version.
It's a shame, the only way to play this game is to use save states.
At least now I know it's possible to finish the game! :P

Thanks for the info! I will try and have a look at it when I get a chance. I've modded it to download my PR from github before, to test the fix we did, so I don't think it should be to hard.

I loved quake2!
The map indeed was q2dm1 'The edge'. The rail gun was in the room under the water.
How do you play this game now? What does it play like- I remember this making me invest in more ram and my first 3dfx card for the first time. P166 and 16mb of ram lol.
There was an online game called Red rover that was excellent. Also loved the servers that had power ups Haste, Vampire and some others.
Super shotgun, quad damage and haste was the most hilarious combination.

For me personally, Quake 2 is my favorite of the Quake games. Most hardcore fans seem to look down on it but I really think its co-op gameplay was a particularly strong element.
