      @sleve_mcdichael

Any idea why what I have Scraped in Arcade has not show up in my favorites?

I will say if an item was Scraped to the Arcade and then moved to Favorites, the scraped info migrated to that area. Items already in my Favorites did not populate scraped info in the Arcade.

Also a deleted item in Favorites is gone. I assumed it would return to the Arcade, but it is not there. Does this mean when you delete from the Favorites, you are deleting it from the system?

@mitu Many thanks. Oddly the config file has always been this way and it has worked in the past. I will update this and report the result.

Unless it has been using a config file from somewhere else where it was entered correctly, this is impossible. It only works if entered as @mitu described. :) I should know, I wrote the software. And if a [screenscraper] section isn't found, it won't use the credentials.

EDIT: This is because ScreenScraper no longer seems to work for unregistered users, which has been covered here.

That's not so much a "no longer..." issue as it is a "sometimes" issue. They said "at the moment" which was *checks calendar* a little over a year ago. screenscraper.fr occasionally blocks access to unregistered users due to heavy traffic. Sometimes it doesn't work for anybody. These periods last a few hours. It comes back up. It's not like they locked it down and never opened it back up again.

@emulatre71 said in Scraper not working when attempting to scrape games for descriptions and boxarts.:

I do have a question about those with bin/cue file formats for PS1. It appears like this because the folders are in the ps1 rom folder, I did not take the contents and just throw them straight into the directory because I like to keep things organized. Are they supposed to be in a folder with their respective bin/cue files?
You don't see the scraper/boxart info until you click on it, this is how they appear so far.

You can convert .bin/.cue sets to .chd using the CHDMAN tool, to clean up your folders to one file per disc (and potentially also save some space.) This will allow you to keep them all in the root psx folder without being too cluttered up with .bin's and .cue's. After this (you might need to re-scrape your games so it associates the new filenames), the menu art should again work as expected: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/CHD-files/#creating-chds-from-cd-roms

Then, for multi-disc games, you can rename the .chd's to .cd1, .cd2 etc. (to hide them from the gamelist) and use .m3u playlist files to clean up your game list menu to one menu item per game. Another advantage of this is on-the-fly disc swapping through the Retroarch menu, and easier save file management (one save file per game, named after the .m3u playlist, instead of a separate file for each disc named after the disc): https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Playstation-1/#m3u-playlists-for-cue-bins-or-chds

@mitu I went back to my build and renamed both the image folder and gamelist file to let it rebuild new ones

I used both sources, but screenscraper seemed to work a lot better. It read the games, many were missing descriptions, but it read them all. Seems like its working now. I'll do the same for the Atari ST files and patch them all up manually so they have descriptions and images if missing any.

Thanks for the help, I'll say it's working...not optimally, but working. Lol.

Now...if you can tell me why the hell my Budgie keeps ripping his feathers out... I'll be good to go. Lol

We could make it the default, since ScreenScraper is the default scraper in EmulationStation it didn't have such a great impact. The change required some code changes in EmulationStation for ScreenScraper, so that's why it wasn't added after the issue was reported.

If you look into your gamelist.xml that was freshly created, does it show all games? If yes, do the path look right for all of them?

@clyde okay right but a full grown standalone USB2 transfers up to 40 MB/s that is 4 times faster as your LAN.

How fast is a Raspberry with his shared USB Controller? 10MB/s? 15? Didn't test but a NAS is dedicated for file moving and if the Pie 4 got some interface upgrades it is maybe as fast as your 2011 Synology (cool device BTW with the best UI I have ever seen)
