Sorry for the double post. Thought this would be a more appropriate place as this topic, because more than likely this isn't something that is already built-in. Thanks for the feedback.

It looks like I've solved my own problem.

I found some older threads that mention changing the memory split in raspi-config advanced options. By default, mine was set to 256. I changed it to 512 and everything works flawlessly now. I've rebooted the system multiple times to make sure it wasn't a fluke and everything is still running great after a couple of hours.

It asked me to create a new thread but rather than that I think it's better to include the original to show how long we have been patiently waiting for this beautiful feature that will make retropie so much sexier. I believe it is possible considering batocera uses a version of emulationstation and some themes utilize the wheel in gamelist. I personally love the customization of retropie more though so always come back but please can someone figure out how they did it and merge this coolness into retropie. Thank you all so much.

@cyclair I have never created a theme, but it seems to me that this page describes how to setup sections for metadata. Have you tried removing the sections for both the labels and the data (ie: md_lbl_rating, md_rating sections)? I think you have to make backups and try this. It will be trial and error, especially to get your positions correct since you also said you wanted to raise the text. There are no simple answers here. You will need to get in there and make adjustments.

Also, I tried clicking your pastebin link and it looks like the XML is in a different language than your long post. Did you know you can go back and EDIT your long post? Folks might be more inclined to respond if you clean up that first post a bit.

I tried to simplify the structure previously by using variables to populate filenames but this ended up causing issues. Changing back to the file structure and hardcoding the names of each graphic seem to fix that. I thought I was done with messing in them sub-theme files and didn't think to check in there.

I was hoping to find that these problems where linked with the memory issues but alas, these problem with random missing images still prevails. Not to worry.

I am wondering the same, I think if there is not a center text function, you just can cheat using <br /> to create each line of text and then center manually the block.
Another option is to create the text box with a size and let the text be justified. Not to clean but it could be easier.
If you make a progress please share while I am looking forward to update the theme and make all texts generated by the xml and not from the BG. Im short of time right now but its great to have people interested on helping and making a better release of a theme

It's not possible yet. Although @Zigurana is working on making the system carousel mechanic available in other views. Until then we only have text available as gamelists.
Unless you want a theme that only shows 1 image per game without any other elements.

Do you just want a different image for each system or do you want a random image for a single system?
Anyway, as far as I know there is no way to randomize any value that can be used as path/filename to images.
Having a different image for each system can be done by either using the system folder theme.xml or by using variables as paths/filename.
If you need/want to have different colors for each system as well, you have to use the old system folder theme.xml otherwise I would suggest to use variables.

Has anyone gotten this to work? I see there are video tutorials regarding getting art on systems however this is a "Collection" and could draw from multiple systems and emulators. When just adding a system with new art there are ROM folders for the ROMS...this won't have that. Anyone have a solution yet for this? (Im trying to add art to the Tronkyfrank themes "collections" but can't figure it out.
