@mbernier said in Problem with XPAD since latest update:

When the upstream repository will be fixed, is there anything we will need to do or it will be fully transparent ?

Just a regular update will be enough, but it's not going to be mandatory.

Just wondering if anyone else had run into this.

Yes, I did. The solution at the time was to disable git compression, hence my reply.

I'm not that keen on kernel device hierarchy, can it be that events kernel entry points rely on available inputs (which in case of the missing udev rule aren't available)?

It's the other way around - kernel input events are the lowest level, upon which higher level APIs are built (i.e. joystick or gamepad APIs).

What I am sure abt and can replicate it, is that without the rule evtest doenst show the gamepad as normal user, while it shows it as super user.

I cannot replicate it, but I'm not running the same configuration as yours (i.e. desktop environment and extra udev rules from MoltenGamepad).

One more think I've noticed is my raspios keep asking me to update sdl and sdl-dev library which were not automatically updated by apt ugrade, and that for some reason the retropie installation start from source and compiles everything, which it didn't seem to happen the first time I've installed it (but I'm not sure abt that)

That's ok and it's not a cause for your issue.

@mituthe only things changed or added have been when I have started the desktop(via cli and startx) but nothing has touched Network etc... And like I have stated the addon Scaper works fine as does any and all network features once in Desktop.

Oddly just notice I nolonger can see an IP address shown but like I said I can access by SSh to the same IP it always uses

and booting to desktop and this shows IP address... something is clearly wrong with retropie side

RetroPie 4.2 was released in 2017, so even in 2021 you were using an out-of-date version. My advice is to install from scratch using the current release and transfer your ROM/BIOS folders over to the new installation.

      stretch/main

Your OS (Debian 9/Stretch) is outdated and no longer supported; currently only Debian 10 (Buster) is supported and, unfortunately, cannot be upgraded in situ.

I suggest you to backup your roms and then install the current latest official image (currently 4.8) for your hardware from https://retropie.org.uk/download.

Then, flash the 4.8 image and restore your backed-up folders over the network share or by the method of your choice:

The issue seems to be the mirror chosen supports IPv6 and the PI tries to connect via IPv6 to it, then fails. Changing the mirror may work, but you can also configure apt to use IPv4 only - see here.

@mitu well that was a good hint. Even though tracert and ping tests checked out, a faulty network cable was still the culprit. Must have just been enough to connect somehow.

      @krathoon said in Duckstation missing?:

Has anyone got Duckstation to work with Final Fantasy 8? Mine will not run. The same with Final Fantasy 9.

I try Final Fantasy 7.8.9 and they are working fine. Better open a new topic and add the important infromation from here :https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

@sirhenrythe5th no problem :) it will be the default in future images at least.

let me know if you get any audio drops! the gameplay should keep going but the audio cuts out for a second or two.

@Thorr69 It depends on how they did it. If you use the Retropie script, you can update the Retropie portion up to 4.4 on Jessie Raspbian. Version 4.5 dropped Jessie support and you had to start fresh to upgrade to 4.5. If you attempt to upgrade the distro underneath, that is where the problems quickly come into play.
