Reading through the stats - there is nothing that surprising in there really - and it confirms that an older mame does much better. Sure the latest mame will do some ancient z80 based games at full speed, but you can see things like air gallet are not.

    Thanks for those suggestions.

I sat down last night with some friends and started to sort through them manually. So that will be that.

I was also wondering if I have scraped my rom-set and then start removing roms will RetroPie clean itself up and free up space from the un-needed graphics and data files?

    Thank you,
    BC

@suprjami it acts like a keyboard initially, but you can enable xarcade2jstick in RetroPie Setup to make it act like 2 joysticks. I have it set up as 2 joysticks.

  • How are YOU backing up your save files?

Backup by running this on the pi:

    find /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ -name "*.srm" -o -name "*.state*" | tar --transform 's|/home/pi/||g' -PcJf retropie_saves.tar.xz -T -

    Restore with:

    tar -C /home/pi -xJf retropie_saves.tar.xz

I have about 300 MB of saves and the backup took about 5 minutes to run. It runs in about 20 seconds if you cut out the xz compression, but I went from 300 MB to 22 MB with it.

As Buzz says, you'll need to swap them. The 4 slots in the emulator are simulating actual drives on the Amiga (on real hardware that was the maximum you could attach). Bearing in mind this was back before hard drives were readily available and reasonably cheap, my first 2GB(!) hard drive was nearly £200.

Some multidisk Amiga games can also be installed on a hard-drive so could be worth looking into setting up a hard file, installing Workbench (the Amiga's OS) and installing the game on the hardfile. Would save switching disks all the time!

@Riverstorm said in Should i consider getting a pi?:

hope they continue to do Podcasts.

If it's not clear, or if you skipped to the interview, this wasn't a RetroPie podcast, it was a podcast called The Pi Podcast hosted by a group of Pi enthusiasts. In this episode, they interviewed our beloved core developers, but The Pi Podcast has just concluded their final episode and will be on permanent hiatus due to host time constraints.

Yeah, and what's even worst is that it is licensed by Sega...

Their first plan is to release on PC, Linux and Mac. The Game will be made with Unity so I think it's an Linux x86 build, but they have stretch goals for additional platforms as well.

There is another new libretro N64 emulator now. Just update RetroPie-Setup and install the new optional package lr-GLupeN64.
