    However: i had no fun with DC on a Pi3(B).
    A Pi4 should be highly recommended for this system.
    Code Veronica is no CE Game and will work great. On a Pi4 :)

    @dankcushions Thanks, but I was curious what people are choosing for different packages and why. Like, I update lr-mesen from source, because of X.

    @mitu So basically it's better that I stay on computer here I understand correctly,

    I'm saying that a computer can do what a Raspberry Pi could do and it's more powerful. It's your choice if you want to get a Raspberry Pi - for lower power usage, small size, etc - or use a PC. Just to clear out that playing old/retro games can be done on a PC also.

    what are the solutions for computers please?

    Search for emulators on each system - basically the same emulators that RetroPie uses are available on a PC.

    @r4izuk0 Up there it says: "Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first".

    I don't know what setup you have nor much about your issue.

    @r4izuk0 No, but you look over at the libretro repository - https://github.com/libretro/glsl-shaders.

    @mitu This help request can be closed out. I ended up uninstalling retropie and Ubuntu and put Batocera on my SSD. Batocera seems to be more user friendly in terms of initial installation and settings. From what I've read Retropie has more options/settings but my emulation needs are simple and Batocera serves me well.

    @beldar I think it's something where the cable probably shouldn't be working, but does.

    I mentioned here I was using an Argon One V2 case, that case didn't work with the same cable.

    However I just purchased an official cable, and it works fine.

    I reached out to losernator and he was kind enough to provide an explanation and a quick fix:

    "Piemarquee2 gets the rom name from the list of running processes, and game-specific options should affect that.

    It seems that mk.zip.cfg was recognized as a rom file
    quick fix : rename marquee "mk.png" into "mk.zip.png"

    I created a duplicate mk.png and mk.zip.png to take care of the menu and in-game and all is good now!

    Just a quick update, and maybe a helpful suggestion for others.

    I ended up hard-wiring button pairs in parallel and attaching them to the same port :

    Controller 1 (numbering according to the above diagram)
    J1_8 and J1_5 => left shoulder
    J1_9 and J1_4 => right shoulder
    J1_7 and J_11 => select
    J1_6 and J1_10 => start

    Controller 2
    J2_6 and J2_8 => select

    Thanks to everybody for help!

    Are you sure you downloaded the right image for your system ? The 'illegal instruction' error at the top makes me think you downloaded the image for a Rpi2/3 or Rpi4 board.

    I found my solution and I will post it out here so it might help someone else with bluetooth audio problems.

    I think my whole issue is because I did not add user "pi" to bluetooth. I followed the article here https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/20338/tutorial-bluetooth-audio-on-retropie-v4-4-and-raspberry-pi-3-model-b

    Finally bluetooth connected in the GUI and it worked out for me in the end.

    @achillespilot Hey- I did get it worked out. What worked for me was lr-mupen64plus-next and video at 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz. The N64 logo when the rom launches looks like garbage but the intro and the game itself look great. Good luck!

    @dankcushions said in Mame button mapping conflicting with Retroarch button mapping:

    Input interface - changing it to retropad will mean only your keyboard keys bound to the retropad mapping will work

    Not necessarily true. You still have to consider Retropad to core remap. It can nul the input if configured incorrectly.

    other mame cores are a mixed bag and probably will only work right if you nul all your retropad bindings for them.

    It seems you could just as easily nul the MAME remaps and stick with the Retropad bindings.

    the current default of 'simultaneous' is only useful for those who had a keyboard and are using retroarch without any retropad bindings.

    Not true at all. I would think the same here for simultaneous, you could nul your MAME maps and use Retropad bindings only. The benefit is if you have a specific game that uses sticks, dials, wheels, paddles, pedals, etc., or whatever is unsupported by Libretro, you'll still have access to the MAME menu to configure it. In addition to the full benefit of the Retropad bindings, keyboard or controller.

    Retropad vs. keyboard. Keyboard would be the last one I would choose due to the loss of controller input. You don't necessarily need to configure controller input, if you don't need it, but it's there when you do.

    I wouldn't gut the MAME menu until more of the input functionality is ported into the Libretro cores. I agree for the beginner, defaulting the setting to Retropad might make a better OOBE but if you need a particular specialized input, for a favorite game, you'll probably fall back to simultaneous or keyboard to get to the MAME menu.

    You could also align the raw and Retropad bindings to avoid "double actions" but you would get sub-optimal layouts on either your control panel or controller.

    If you used both, you wouldn't be able to have both set exactly as you want. Take for example a pinball game or like Toobin'. Open on the control panel but fixed on the controller equals terrible button layouts but doing one device or the other would work fine in getting a decent layout.

    On cores that don't have those options you can nul one set of inputs or turn on focus mode. I think when Mark added those options if opened up a lot more flexibility that just wasn't possible before and most of us didn't understand the input mechanism at the time and "ghost inputs" as we called them back then.
