Was the color/transparency selection for the selected/unselected elements of the carousel implemented in the end?

The problem I'm facing is that when I exit the game, the steam keeps running. There's no window, but its icon is on my Linux Mint Cinnamon systray and EmulationStation windows keeps hiden. If I close Steam (right click on that icon and exit) the EmulationStation goes back.

Maybe a small hack to kill steam after exiting a game can be easy to do, but I'm not giving attention to this currently. Just sharing the trick on that link. :-)

Strange...I installed it myself just last night. Not sure what the problem my be.

I would like to warn you however..When I used it it made my setup "crash" (drop to the command line) when i tried to change the theme. I was trying to change the theme because my video snaps were not playing (had sound though) I eventually took it out. I would like to have it and hte team to work on it..I get tired of sitting around and "making sure that someone (kids, wife, friends) screw something up sigh

Ahhh yes, I've been hoping for rotation and have been doing it manually. Maybe now ill just use some svgs and throw the rotation at them XD.

Sorry I couldn't reply sooner, I only just woke up.

Glad you got it sorted, if you haven't set everything up it's often easier just to re-flash the sd as you have.
Once you do get everything setup how you want it's a good idea to make a backup img of the SD card, that way if something major goes wrong in the future you just have to re-flash the card and you're up and running again.

@a12c4 Can you post a screen of it? I have no idea what I should be excited about.

Yeah, I first started with this method. Had the gamelist.xml all sorted out and everything. But for some reason the runcustom.sh wasn't working for me there. You can see the last comment that I made on that topic.

Either way, what I have now works for me, just thought it would be a cool expansion on this useful tool.

i did a clean install of 16.04 and then ran the below commands. I also set the pi user to sudo with no password per the install instructions. At first i didnt think it worked because there are no icons for retroarch or emulation station, but i just ran emulation station from the command line and it worked. then i set it to start on login, much better that way. i copied some roms over and tried a few and everything seems to work. Thanks for the help BuZz!!!

These are the install commands:
sudo apt-get install -y git dialog unzip xmlstarlet
git clone --depth=1 https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup.git
cd RetroPie-Setup
sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

@tony_retrogamer make sure you edit the es_systems.cfg in /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/ otherwise it will get overwritten if you update.

I updated the es_patch.diff file above and also the folder generation script to take in to account the expanded folder tags that are available, I also made the script easier to expand with more tags for future expansion

@herb_fargus When using the "Update all Packages" is that updating from Binary?

@leagueofmonkeys Dont get me wrong. Things go down very fast once a name gets branded as supporting piracy. We just try to minimise the chances of that happening. As i said, Retropie support is available for all those who are running official builds.

You see emulators and ES are perfectly legal tools. Just because you can use it to pirate doesnt mean the software is at fault,. It is those that pirate at fault. A hammer can be used for a lot of useful things and it is perfectly legal to own and use. Someone being murdered using the hammer is not the hammer's fault nor its producers.

And you are most welcome to use the forums and seek help for official builds. I have posted links where you could find the download and install instructions. If the problem persists, feel free to create another thread and we shall help you out.
