    @pc4life0427 said in Roms are all gone?:

    Tried a few different sites for roms to make sure it was not the roms..
    I will try a few more.. unless you recommend one?

    When you say to "to make sure it's not the roms". It is the roms. There is not one set of roms. Also, by asking for links, you are in violation of the rules you agreed to when you signed up..

    @philmiller278 No problem. I'm not entirely new to Linux, but when it comes to RPi or RetroPie I'm a "freshman". From my tries and errors, I came up with the following summarized procedure to get RetroPie up and running, so it might come in handy to you and others:

    Download the latest RetroPie pre-built image; Extract it using WinRAR, 7-Zip, etc. Write the extracted image file using Win32 Disk Imager (on Windows) to the SD card; Boot RetroPie and configure your controller; In the RetroPie configuration menu select "raspi-config" or press F4 and type "sudo raspi-config"; Select "Expand filesystem" and reboot when prompt or type "sudo reboot"; Once restarted, update your system packages by pressing F4 and then typing "sudo apt-get update", and once completed "sudo apt-get upgrade", replying with "y" pressing Enter; Reboot ("sudo reboot"); F4 again and type "sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh"; Update RetroPie-Setup script; Update all installed packages (kernel too if you want); Perform reboot; F4 again and type "sudo nano /boot/config.txt" Uncomment (remove "#") lines "hdmi_force_hotplug=1" - this solved my issue of not having image at first boot after power cycling; and "hdmi_drive=2" - this solves the issue of not having sound over HDMI; Exit and save by pressing "Ctrl+X", press "y" and type Enter to overwrite file. Reboot or shutdown - when shutting down from the shell/command line type "sudo halt" or "sudo shutdown -h now". There are numerous ways to add roms to your RetroPie, but the easiest is to do it over network, by using a PC and adding roms to "/RetroPie/roms/gaming system folder" when your RetroPie is turned on - your RetroPie should be visible in the network devices window.

    Even if you shut down the system from the GUI/menu, you can always turn the system back on without power cycling and preserving the mUSB plug, by shunting GPIO pins 5 & 6 by simply placing a jumper, a paper clip, installing a PC-style reset switch, etc (be careful to not shunt GPIO pins 1, 2 and 4 as those have voltage: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/iot/docs/pinmappingsrpi ).

    To change screen resolution refer to https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt.md down in the "HDMI_mode" and "Which values are valid for my monitor?" sections.

    A little off-topic, but if you ever need to change your keyboard layout, type in the shell "sudo nano /etc/default/keyboard" and in "XKBLAYOUT="gb" change "gb" to the letters of you keyboard layout - for example, "es" for Spanish, "fr" for French, etc.

    Which RPI version? What kind of SD card? How large is the storage of the SD card? You need to provide more info so people can help you.

    Its nice for variety and get around censorship in some situations.

    I've been playing the uncensored version of 'Super Castlevania IV' and it's a trip to see all the blood and religious iconography restored.

    I prefer the Steven Selph scraper too. The built in scraper pretty much sucks (not RetroPie's fault, it's built into EmulationStation). The built in is too slow, and it's fuzzy logic is terrible. Whenever it doesn't have an EXACT 100% match, it prompts you for the game, even when there is only 1 game on the list. Steven's is much faster, requiring no user input. The fuzzy logic built into that one is like 99% accurate. I've not come across any mismatched games, but the scraper doesn't find them all. A lot of Japanese games just fail "hash checks". I haven't figured out a way around that, other than scrape with Selph's first, then go back in and use the built-in one.

    But the other replies are correct. Before I started building my setup, I went through the WIKI and DOCUMENTATION. In fact, just about everything is already covered in the video on the homepage's link to Installation:

    @backstander said in Reicast Stuck On Time & Date !:

    @Slugz

    there is no select tab in the mapping.cfg

    The Dreamcast controller didn't have a Select button but you could map that button to Exit the emulator (just remember not to accidentally hit it while playing a game!)

    Change this in your /opt/retropie/configs/dreamcast/mappings/controller_8BitdoSNES30GamePad.cfg file to use the Select button to Exit Dreamcast emulator:

    btn_escape = 314

    Did all this work for you?

    yes got past the time & date.

    will give it a full run later on.

    thank you.

    Don't know how make it look like a code line

    @Rcs we have no clue what version of retropie, raspberry pi (also what version of pi) or pc or any of the other stuff that readme says you need to give us info on. If you give us something to start with then maybe someone can help. I would start by going into the file /boot/config.txt and removing the hashtag from the beginning of this line:

    #hdmi_drive=2

    So it looks like this:

    hdmi_drive=2

    Then save and exit and then reboot. If you are using a raspberry pi and you dont ftp into your pi then plug in a keyboard and hit f4 to get to the command line. Now type:

    Sudo nano /boot/config.txt

    Now scroll down and until you find the line that says:

    #hdmi_drive=2

    Then remove the hashtag so it looks like this:

    hdmi_drive=2

    Then save and exit by hitting "ctrl & x"at the same time then "y" to save. Then type

    sudo reboot

    in the command line. Also when in emulationstation hit your start button on your controller, go into sounds and change the volume from 77% to 100%.

    If that doesnt work then you need to give us more info on your setup just like that "read this first" link tells you what all info we need.
