@dgraham1977 you have a few options.

start fresh with 4.0.2 and then manually edit your configs based on the aforementioned post or disable xpad, downgrade your kernel, and enable xboxdrv

or use an earlier version where xboxdrv isnt broken.

if you're updating from a previous version, update your setup script, select update all installed pacakges to update, then disable xboxdrv, install the xpad driver, and change your kodi configs

personally I would just recommend a fresh 4.0.2 and then modifying the kodi configs.

The kodi issue will be solved when kodi 17 stable is released.

Yep. Was a crappy Intenso sd card. Won't buy those again.
      Works on a Sandisk.
      Thanks.

@BuZz I guess I hadn't noticed; I spend too much time editing the es_systems.cfg to know what was originally there, but it's good to know, thanks.

Ok, that gave me pointer to look for what x86 packages I had on the system, looks like mesa-utils as from www.deb-multimedia.org was causing all the problem.

Removed the foolishly incorrect repo, RetroPie-Setup --> Install Kodi worked perfectly.

      @speendo Hi,

My system is built from a Raspbian Jessie image, with RetroPie (3.8) manually installed, and Kodi installed via RetroPie.

I added a text-mode menu which displays on boot, or after exiting RetroPie, Kodi, or Raspbian Lxde desktop.

I wrote a guide which may help you:

@jtu128 Emulations Station skins don't affect Kodi. Older skins can be incompatible with Kodi 16.1.

You can remove/install Kodi again in the RetroPie-Setup scripts. If you want to remove Kodi from the command line, it is like in most of linux distributions:

sudo apt-get remove kodi kodi-bin sudo apt-get install kodi kodi-bin

@Rascas has posted that "Kodi 17 beta 7 available for RetroPie"
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/6308/testing-kodi-17-beta-7-available-for-retropie

This has a kodi-peripheral-joystick addon that should help you get your controllers working in Kodi.

@jmebd That kind of questions, it is better for you to ask them in the kodi oficial forum, or another forums more dedicated to that kind of subject. I have a PVR backend configured + some clients but I am no expert in this, it is a very simple setup and I don't use it much. My provider transmits the channels in h264, I never had stuttering problems or whatsoever, even on RPI 1. And this is a retrogaming forum, surely you will find better support for your doubts in more appropriate places.
